I've heard some people say that the Rocklet Rifle is pure ownage. I'm inclined to believe it, except when I use it, I tend to eat a lot of splash, and somehow my enemies can live through a full six-shot barrage. I'm under the impression that each shot does 50 against infantry, and just about that much when it splashes them, so that should be like 300 damage, more than enough to kill any trooper, and yet it seems they survive it so often.
Is the Rocklet Rifle the key to ownage? I can't help but think it's fair, but is it as good as people say? I'd like to hear some opinions, from the masters as well as curious players.

I got a secret....when we argue, I cry first. And then, I beat her to the bathroom, and I lock her out. And she's banging on the door, "Let me in" and I say "No, I was in here first." And then I beat her to the telephone, and I call my mother. My wife can't beat me at nothing.

Well, when I use the RR I like to see if I can get the kill in primary mode and switch over to secondary if I need too. It saves ammo.
Aim at the feet, you'll rarely hit dead on with the rocklet so it's best to get the splash damage. I like using advanced Regen and engineering because you will take damage at close quarters. Last edited by JuSTCHiLLiN; 2003-12-15 at 05:04 PM. |

I totally, totally suck while trying to use a Rocklet. Its just not my playstyle, I despise how fast it uses up ammo and how small the clips are. On the battlefield I do not find Rocklet users at all troublesome. They arent any match for heavy assault and arent a match for the Medium assault rifles at the proper ranges. The only time the Rocklet is a threat is if I am in a MAX suit and some agile busts in with it on secondary, however, doing that with a Deci is 10x more efficient anyways.

Try staying at med ranges, always aim for feet/ankles, and learn how to lead your target, since the rocklets fly slow. You should also only use the secondary mode at close ranges and indoors...its much easier and usually just as fast to kill someone with primary outdoors since it is more accurate.

IMPORTANT TIP!
Stay away from secondary fire. A lot of people think, "Theres a guy, I'm gonna use secondary to fire at him REAL quick." While you wait that extra second using secondary and have a lot less acuracy and can't stop the shot's. Some other Rocklet Rifle user is fireing them in primary hitting every shot and is able to stop firing when a friendly cloaker runs in front of him. With the Rocklet, it taked skill and practice, it's not for everbody. |

Secondary is usuable, but only for suppressing fire and taking down maxes. A good strategy is to hit the first two in primary and then switch to secondary and finish them. Or kill one enemy with primary then empty the rest of the clip in secondary at the next target. I tend to keep one rocklet set to primary, and one on secondary as a panic button.

Use the secondary fire inside towers. Stand at the top of the stairway and use 3rd person mode to watch the stairwell without being seen. When the enemy rounds the corner, hit the fire button and jump out in front of him. takes some practice, but works wonderfully well.
