Not sure if this went in GD, or the lounge. I like the lounge better.
I recently installed and played XIII. Now, I'm half-way decent at planetside, I do my job and get around 20 kills a day, at the least. Now, I fired up the multiplayer in XIII and WOW. Either ALL of tyhe players in MP suck TOTAL ass, or PS conditions you so well against other human opponants, that you = win. Seriously. I never died more than 3 times, and I got over 30 kills. Silly french folk not knowing how to fight.

Same with Day of Defeat>Call of Duty. CoD multiplayer is full of first-timers, FFXI players, and otehr non-FPSers who just suck, except when given the PPSh, then they SMG rush. Which I don't complain about, that was the Soviet tactic of WW2.
But 75% of them can't hit shit with a bolt-action. I have yet to not win when playing.

The gun katas. Through analysis of thousands of recorded gunfights, the Cleric has determined that the geometric distribution of antagonists in any gun battle is a statistically predictable element. The gun kata treats the gun as a total weapon, each fluid position representing a maximum kill zone, inflicting maximum damage on the maximum number of opponents while keeping the defender clear of the statistically traditional trajectories of return fire. By the rote mastery of this art, your firing efficiency will rise by no less than 120%. The difference of a 63% increase to lethal proficiency makes the master of the gun katas an adversary not to be taken lightly. |

There appears to be alot of newbie FPSers around these days in all the new games. I had a guy in a CoD server accuse me of hacking, then say he was better than me because he had finished the SP on veteran setting. What the fuck ever, asshole. There are a huge amount of newbies in CoD.
There is alot of new comers to the FPS world playing PS. It is the only FPS I have seen where being a kill whore is considered bad form by the majority of players. Killing traditionally is the point in an FPS, however PS appears to have no point so everyone has to find their own. Fragging is frowned upon for some reason. =/ PS does condition you well to fight human opponents, and is a good introduction into the FPS world. However CSHD under extreme lag serve to make it a little less credible in comparison to other FPSs. |

I don't even bother with most FPS games multiplayer anymore unless I'm playing with friends or in competition. It seems public servers are populated with people who have either never played FPS games before in their lives or are so utterly abysmal at them that they should never play them again. Ever.
Playing FPSs in an organized team in competition ruined random multiplayer mayhem for me
