so, i have this awesome fish. it's a black ghost knife, 'bout 7inches long. nearly blind, still hates light. navigates with electrical pulses, moves with one long waving ventral fin.
this awesome fish has a lame-ass name. some chick named it, and i dislike said female pretty strongly. anyway, fish needs a new, awesome name. i'll post a reward of some sort via TangoUniform for whoever posts the one i pick. here are some pics, sorry they suck. it's hard to take pictures of nocturnal fish.

I like Switchblade (proposed by SDM).

The gun katas. Through analysis of thousands of recorded gunfights, the Cleric has determined that the geometric distribution of antagonists in any gun battle is a statistically predictable element. The gun kata treats the gun as a total weapon, each fluid position representing a maximum kill zone, inflicting maximum damage on the maximum number of opponents while keeping the defender clear of the statistically traditional trajectories of return fire. By the rote mastery of this art, your firing efficiency will rise by no less than 120%. The difference of a 63% increase to lethal proficiency makes the master of the gun katas an adversary not to be taken lightly. |

SMART SENSING: Sensory Acquisition in Weakly Electric Fish and applications to biorobotics The research in our laboratory is focused on understanding "smart sensing" in animals. We're interested in how the nervous system extracts and enhances behaviorally relevant information and suppresses irrelevant background noise. To achieve this goal, the brain actively controls the process by which it acquires sensory information from the environment. The goal of our research is to understand the neural mechanisms and computational principles involved in this process. Smart sensing is not a single mechanism or algorithm. Rather it is the result of systems-level integration of multiple cooperative mechanisms, including: dynamic positioning of peripheral sensory structureshttp://soma.npa.uiuc.edu/labs/nelson/nelson.html edit: drop a 9v battery in the tank, and post a full report Last edited by SDM; 2004-01-21 at 12:01 AM. |
