Prone

Now I know lots of people (a.k.a. snipers) want there to be a prone position in Planetside but if you think of it most of the ground isn't level that are good spots for sniping and those that are are on cliffs where you don't need to worry about being seen so much not to mention the fact that if you get jumped by a cloaker your as good as dead seeing as how it would take you longer to get up to run. So flame or praise do what you like just remember I'll remember it when I rule the world

Yeah what good would it do the game? Even as a sniper i can't see how this would help.
crouching = prone. thats fine with me

If you're sniping regularly, a cloaker could Boomer you and you wouldn't even know it

I see no reason why prone should be in a game at all. Crouch is fine enough for accuracy purposes, and being prone wouldn't really make someone drastically less vulnerable.

prone = smaller target, iIf you've ever played call of duty, ask the people that play like max payne and jump and prone in mid air. It's a very hard target to hit, even after he hits the ground.

That's a good point, and I know prone would give soldiers some extra protection. I just think crouching diminishes a soldier's size enough as it is.

You know those short little walls on the bases? They would actually cover you. On hills? Sillhouette? There wouldn't be one any more, a 6 foot tall soldier is alot easier to hit than a 2 foot one.

If you were prone those lips would be too high to shoot over, there just high enough for a couching person to shoot over, as it is only your head has to be up above a hill for you to fire.

Its not needed, crouching is just fine.

I don't think the point is to shoot while going prone behind those covers. It's all about getting behind cover, to avoid being shot. I think it would be a very cool feeling to be down to 5 health and 0 armor and hit the deck behind those low walls, and inch myself out of the crossfire above my head -- and hope no one lobs a grenade up onto the wall on which I'm crawling.

How do you draw that conclusion? I'm just curious, as we haven't had prone in the game, ever. It would be one thing to have tried it, and then making that statement, but making it without not really knowing its impact on gameplay..

Anyways. Prone could be a good way to slow the gameplay down a notch. Maybe making it a bit more tactical. In its current state PlanetSide is very fast-paced. Even more fast-paced than I think the developers anticipated.

Yes there was prone way in early beta.

How many rocks are to short to crouch behind? Those walls all have large blocks that stick up at very regular intervols(sp) you can stand beihnd those and not get hit.

Going prone would just make it that easier for a Cloaker or Surger to get up next to you and blow your brains out.
