Good god my n00b friend, DO NOT BUY A MP3 player. There are digital cameras with integral MP3 players and members of this very board who will sell you theirs for dirt-cheap.

MP3 players are like hookers. Appealing until you're done with them, and then nothing but costly expenses.

DON'T DO IT. Use a low-tech solution like a cd-player. Hear me now and believe me later!

Wow interesting view on it Veteran, do you know I still use my Rio PMP350, ya know the original 32 MB one. The first MP3 player to come out. Yeap I got it for 200 dollars back then, I use it to run, and it works great. I use a 64 meg card in it to boost the volumn on the play list, and i can then put that card in my digital camera and use it there. I also still use the Original Nomad Jukebox and it works great, I even replaced the 6 gig hard drive in it with a 20 gig hard drive.

Where is your proof to not go with an mp3 player? There is no moving parts, and if you respect them, they work for a long time. Costly expenses? How do you figure?

Ogge, look into the new Creative Muvo2, that comes with 4 gigs of space on a flash card and sells for around 200 dollars from what I read, it is a superb small snazzy little machine. Some people swear by thier Ipod, and others don't. Go with what is best for you and fits into your budget. If you are looking for lots of space you might want the 40 gig Zens or IPods.

What is that, 6 years ago that PMP350 came out, I have gone through 4 cd players in that time. Funny how moving parts die so much quicker than an efficient device.

If anything, I'd suggest an IPod. I hear they work with Windows now, too.

Exactly

MP3 CD Player = $80 for a nice one

CDR = $0.25 = alot of music

Totally more cost efficient.

I dunno, I bought an iRiver iHP-120 and LOVE it.
I'd do your research, and figure out what you'd need it for. (I do a lot of traveling, so CDs are inconveniant for me) the iRiver is only $315, which compared to the iPod 20Gb at $400 is freaking cheap. an iPod mini is a rip-off to the extreme, as a 15Gb iPod is only $50 more. ($250 / $300) The size is pretty freaking small for the "larger" size.

Dont enter into this lightly, anything over $100, you really need to research.

IPod is a great investment. Not only it's a MP3 Player, it also acts as a Hard Drive and Personal Diary. The sound is great and it'll be something you'll treasure.

I wouldn't recommend you at all buying MP3 Players that use SDs and other crap. Cause the amount you pay for a 15gig IPod, you won't be strangling yourself paying for SD sticks to come up with 15gigs. Hope that made any sense... What I am trying to say is, the IPod is worth the bucks.
