Has any one in any outfit ever use actual tatics? I mean formations, u go there, u go there. U guys hold the door, we go in then hold next door then u go in. Anyone ever?
I mean no free for all, you attack the top of the tower, you guys go below. You attack that, we get that? More or less no, cause that would take too long to learn and like hell anyone would wana learn it and like hell would their net connection let them. But if you have. Hmm. Wanna share it?

Yep.
This is what you will hear over voice in my outfit. "I'll Hack." "Rgr, I have the tubes" "I'll guard you." Or "Tower tubes Hack!" "I don't see anyone on radar." "Then hit those Tubes as fast as you can, only one can take the tower." "Tower is ours." Or... "I got a Magrider on my tail." "Cool, lure him to my Tank." "Yeah, already on my way, but I am pretty low." "Rgr, he will be coming over the hill is just a sec, we should be right in front of him." "I got him." Or. "AMS my position." "On my way." Or. "Tank ahead, don't fire till we get closer, he is occupied." "Yeah, he is shooting at some Infantry." "Ok, Fire. Hit gunner is occupied." All kinds of stuff. We try to run in packs when we can. We bind at Tech Plants when we can. No formations or any of that crap. But, we do work as a team. Well, that is in between the insults. Usually is it something along the lines of... "Tower tubes Hack!" "We know asshole" "I don't see anyone on radar." "Great, another Empty Hack" "Shut up and hit those Tubes as fast as you can, only one can take the tower." "Tower is ours." "Way to go dickless!" But it is all in good fun.

Black Widow Company has been working on a "Terran Republic Field Manual", some excerpts of which I have posted here before. I personally wrote many of them, so I can only speak for my sources- I use many Army and Marine Corpse manuals as guides or sources for ideas. Examples of these are, Marine Corps rifleman's guide, US Army Ranger handbook, US Army Ranger Operations FM, Army tank combat manual, Mechanized Infantry Squad, Rifle Squad and Platoon... I currently am working on a guide for Light Infantry/Ranger-style operations, complete with a guide to strike operations, special light infantry missions, insertions and extractions.
We drill our outfit members in many of these tactics on a very ferquent basis, to the point where one of my officers runs "Basic Training", where he teaches squad small-unit tactics and assorted similar matters. We also run "certification courses" where members can qualify in standard operating procedures for certain skills such as Sapper/CE, sniping, air assault, etc. Examples of topics covered- patrolling techniques, ambush set-up, terrain tactical analysis, squad movements such as Squad Column, File (Ranger File), Line, Vee, Wedge... traveling, traveling overwatch, bounding overwatch. Though a great many Planetside tactics are universal and occasionally put into practice, there are many outfits who simply do not know them... which is why I keep most of them under lock and key, to keep it that way. The less amount of enemies that know what I am doing, the better. |

My outfit ts:
"That's bullshit. He sniped me while jumping off a wall." "Approaching drop zone. Bail!" "Oops." "Get though the...get to the..." "Crap" *one minute passes* "That was somewhat less than absolutely succesful. Regroup in sanc." I guess our tactics are implicit more than explicit. Sometimes they are outlined explicitly, though.

i find that it is hard to find a good outfit that uses good tactics. I am by know means a great leader but at the same time i can sure spot one. I think that alot of outfits go for sheer size instead of finding people that actually can take orders. Not that everyone should be a mindless drone and do things blindly, but i think that everyone should give there input and then the squad leader or outfit leader make the final call, and weather it is the right decision or not it will still have a better chance of success if everyone is on board...

my outfit mainly does spec ops and small scale defense, so we assign jobs for people as for me at most times unless we are short a man (we are a small outfit btw) I'm assigned to take out the turrets during a drain or during spec ops I handle the gen along with 3 other guys.

My outfit's voice/outfit chat while on operation:
"I'll go take down the tubes along with ----" "Come on 321 I'll duel you" "Shut up, later" *I die* "What was that" "You didn't duel me" But we get the job done and usally that doesn't happen unless a certain someone that thinks they are better than me is on . |

Our TS sounds a lot like Headrattle's. That is, imho, the most effective way to wage war in PS. You don't do a bunch of stupid drills on how to walk in formations so your easy targets for plasma spam, you teach your soldiers how to react intelligently to the world around them. Having a bunch of cardboard cutouts who need to be spoon-fed orders is a recipe for disaster. You shouldn't have to tell your soldiers what to do for any given situation, they should know what to do instinctively, and they should be adept at improvising based on the situation. Now, that doesn't mean that a level of organization isn't important, just running into battle and relying solely on initiative is an extremely bad idea, but when you start dictating to an individual exactly what he should be doing instead of letting the individual analyze the situation for himself your just asking for trouble.
A good example would be our op on tuesday, we had big, complex, plans for rolling a nice armored column. Unfortantly the TR was being pressed to hard and we couldn't afford to dick around getting everything coordinated, so we threw it out the window. We simply fell into our normal battle order. The people who could started rolling armor, we had a small contingent holding the tower and patrolling the surrounding area, we had guys running around looking for AMSes, ect. Noone had to tell us what to do, we didn't all pick up our little black books and execute Red-5. We all simply did what needed to be done based on the situation, because we knew from experience what was important, but even more importantly, because we know very well and generally have a decent idea on what the guy next to us is most likely to do in any given situation, and what should be done to help him. Ok, now that I'm finished sounding like an arrogant jackass, let me just say this. The point is that experienced squadmates who know each other well will generally get along much better (not to mention have a shitload more fun) if they react based on their instincts, instead of what some book tells them.

Yes. Always have TS on and if you are in the outfit then you have TS. If you fail to get TS, you fail to be a part of Shadow Dynasty.
We have many tactics but have always used one general rule when we have prowler formations rolling. The lead tank is always follow by all the vehicles we have, everyone stay with that lead prowler, where he goes, we all go. When he gets about 50% damage we pull back and repair while our skygaurds hold off the air. Very effective.
