Crystal Dynamics, some punkass third-party company, is making their own game for the Deus Ex series. It's for Xbox and PS2, and it's a shooter.
That's right, a shooter, no typo. How the hell do you make a Deus Ex shooter? And where does this "Clan Wars" name come from? There are no clans in Deus Ex. And where do you put this story? It's a little hard to place it after Invisible War, too many variances in plot. It sounds to me like some guys heard about the story of it and decided to make a shooter even though they never played the game or knew how it's supposed to work. Why Deus Ex? Couldn't you say that society collapsed in 2067 and Clans formed that represented the needs of those who joined them. They occasionally got into wars, and nanotech is one of the technologies that's still around and is produced by the Clans? You know, something to keep yourself distanced from a good series like Deus Ex with your crappy games?

This completes the monumental step-down from the first Deus Ex. Way to trash a series.

The gun kata treats the gun as a total weapon, each fluid position representing a maximum kill zone, inflicting maximum damage on the maximum number of opponents while keeping the defender clear of the statistically traditional trajectories of return fire. By the rote mastery of this art, your firing efficiency will rise by no less than 120%. The difference of a 63% increase to lethal proficiency makes the master of the gun katas an adversary not to be taken lightly. |

I went searching over the net - http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/action/deusexclanwars/
That is what he is referring too, but you'll only find dust and crumbes.

After reading the INSANELY small amount of information from the link, I can guess this much
Clan Wars is just the WORKING TITLE, NOT THE FINISHED TITLE, just like Project Ego You will probably not be one of the "dentons", it will probably be a completely different plot, but still inside the Deus Ex universe. It will be a shooter. |

You just can't be in the Deus Ex world and not have those RPG elements.

And saying you can't make Deus Ex into a shooter is like saying you can't make Mario into a karting game. The characters and environments are the same, but essentially the game is different. Last edited by Kaltagesta; 2004-05-28 at 10:36 AM. |

You would have to be playing as an SSC guard or MJ-12 trooper. Being a nano-aug wouldn't work too well, except maybe in a single player game. And if it's single-player, what happened to stealth, a prime aspect of Deus Ex?
