Personal BD delima

I'm sure this, or something similar, has been posted a million and a half times. But has anyone actually thought about the 30mm BD. I mean c'mon, the GAU-8 in the A-10 uses 30mm rounds to rip apart tanks, and if you actually see one in real life, the shell is the size of a Mag light. I know it's cool to have a 30mm rifle, but something that big would not only kill ANY LIVING THING in one shot, it'd pretty much rip a human in half. Dun know, just my thoughts.

Only with AP ammo (at least now I think)

Nah it's a balance thing, rock paper scissors. All weapons have strengths and weaknesses. A weapon that could chew through anything regardless would require one hell of a downside. (Yeah yeah I know there are a few candidates for that already )

I don't care what kind of rounds it shoots, a 9 mm bullet will most likely scratch the paint on a tank.

The paint gets scratched no matter what you shoot at it. Why the armor has to go down is a seperate issue.

Realism is a tool, not a goal.

edit: Also, this isn't a dilemma.

PS really isnt trying to be realistic. That of course is all made impossible by the introduction of alien tech, planets, max suits...etc It would be a very boring game if they tried to stick to realism. I believe the biggest infantry carryable Sniper rifle in the real world shoots only 20mm rounds and it devastates. It would be much more "realistic" if they called it a 20mm instead of a 30mm but oh well

AP rounds don't exist for most infantry weapons, but if tank APDS (Armour Piercing Discarding Sabot) rounds were made at 9 mm scale they would cut through a good deal of any modern tank's armour. Which is why PlanetSide has futuristic tanks and modern manafacturers don't make 9mm APDS rounds.

Personally i think that they need to make another weapon that's like the deci, only it's single shot, almost instantly hits the target, and can instantly decimate a medium armor vehicle like Empire specific buggies and such. Also, the fucker'd take up a shitload of space. I think that this would be cool because yeah, you'd have to give up a lot of storage for this weapon, but you'd be able to hammer vehicles by yourself. But, of course, only one would fit in any given inventory and as i said, single shot. This way you couldn't just keep shooting the fucking thing. Also, it would be basically useless against infantry. It'd be like a panzerfaust. Shaped charge to really knock the piss out of armor, but the explosion itself has the blast radius of a firecracker. The decimator, in my oppinion, just doesn't cut it as an anti-ANYthing weapon in my opinion. Three shots or not, it's just not that useful. I rarely, if ever, see anyone carting one of those things around. I dunno. bananas.

That's the biggest current payload on a sniper rifle, the Barrett XM-109.

It is my personal mental delima of grasping the whole 2 shot concept because I work with REAL 30mm rounds on a daily basis.

Actually from the TR Perspective, I think the Striker is almost always better at killing MAXs in any given situation than the Decimator. Since you can usually use hit and run tactics when attacking a MAX, the fact that it takes many more missles for the striker than the Deci really doesnt seem to be much of a problem. Also the tracking works indoors just dandy. The only reason I ever pack a Deci now is to take out spawn tubes. The Decimator does need a defined role. Killing MAXs used to be its defined role, but now its not so great at doing this (which is ok, MAXs were far too weak against this) I think it should be beefed up against vehicles somehow
