Well I'm pulling CQ duty tonight and well i have nothing to do. Ive done my bidding on Ebay and now ive come here. Anywho i do need some help though, me being the impulsive buyer that i am. I bid on a DV-6030 HOME THEATER SURROUND SOUND SPEAKERS HI-END. It looked all nice and it had 1400 watts which is defiantly up there in power. Now I did not see on how it plays anything. Do i need to buy a DVD player or something along those lines?

Ya i want to play CD's and possable DVD's So does that mean i have to go buy something else? Like give me an example of what i need to buy along with this

your gonna need a DVD player or atleast a cd player.

Any old DVD player or one that supports all that shit (half of it i dont know what it is)

All you need to read is the 3rd line:
5.1 Receiver/Processor/AM/FM Tuner

Screw everything but the Receiver. The Reciever is what you plug everything into to get the sound you want. As far as I know, if you got some wires, you got some music

Example:
Your tv+red and white audio cables=Oprah in Surround sound (shiver)
Your computer+Y audio cables=Planetside in surround sound (its awsome)
DVD Player+red white audio cables=whatever is in the DVD player in SURROUND SOUND

Audio cables is all you need.


Now to your question, depending on what you mean by old DVD player. I have no clue. Check the back for what outputs you have. If there is red and white outputs, you should be able to just grab those cables and hook them to the Reciever and you would get sound.

I just have to make sure i buy a DVD player that is 5.1 Doby Digtal cable and i should be fine i guess...you think a person with a CCNA cert would be smarter then this...

edit: im taking pictures of the back of the reciver and the dvd player...because i know there is more then just the red and white (sound) and yellow (video) there is blue and browns...ive seen them...grr

Bugger is correct - just about every DVD player now supports 5.1 surround.. I haven't seen one that doesent. Usually if the system is newer you use an optical audio cable to connect the audio to the reciever.

Mine has separate labels for everything so its pretty follow through. CD, Tape, Tv, DVD, radio, etc.

The blue brown (brown wtf) outputs would be what hamma said. For better sound quality.

Yeah i was gonna say do the speakers not come with their own little reciever? Or is it just speakers?

Check that out and if so quit that bid on the reciever pronto.
