Yes, you should buy it. If I had the money, I would buy one, they look pretty neat.

edit: But Rbstr has a point, the WRX is also damned sexy.

You don't have to stay out of it - There don't seem to be many small sized cars that are domestic and have good performance and features

Every car I've ever owned has been a domestic tbh - if I was to go with an import I would have many sleepless nights.. In my heart of hearts I want the new SVT Sport Trac 400hp of ownage - followup to the Lightning.. but I'm not sure if its practical. Small cars like this have good performance, features and they aren't to bad on gas.

Oh, I'm not saying domestic or import either way. I'd love to have an audi or hell id even drive a subaru. just that I don't think there's any really great choices for cars these days... i mean cars within reason that is. those golfs are nice though...

though some of chevys new cars are pretty nice, good gas milage, nice power, can run on that ethanol stuff if you want, and cost lest than that golf for more power.

I'll admit the new domestics are getting better than they were.

Still I feel the quality of the imports, especialy the europeans, are much much better.

The insides of domestics always seem to not fit properly and feel poorly made to me. Some asian cars get that feeling to, especialy the cheaper ones.

Give the FSI a year to have its issues worked out. The US GTi has a pretty radically different motor than the FSi in use in Europe, in order to meet emissions. I raced VWs for a few years, mostly T1s but I have some seat time in the MK1,2 and 3 GTis (and a Gen 2 GLi Jetta that pwned).

Most issues evolving from the GTi line are in the last gen here. We went from a nice light platform with the MK1-2...to the poor transitionary MK3 with its electrical madness.

The GTi lost its way, got fat and turned from a hot hatch barn burner..to some sort've psuedo-luxury compact with a stout powertrain. Give it a year, and snap it up. Kace tested, Coyote approved. I lit'er up on my first test drive!

I wish I was born in the 50s, every damn car now looks the same, and what drives me so hard to blow these companies up, is they have commercials announcing how unique they are.
If our industry doesn't change, in a couple decades Nissan and Toyota will be the main vehicle producers, children wont know what a Ford or Chevy is.

FSI?

I've read quite a few articles on the GTI and it's transition to the USA and every one of them has said the only real change was to the suspension height and a few cosmetic details.

Course it would not be the first time a mag was wrong.
