++++++++++++++++Standby++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++Retrieving Data log++++++++++++++ +++++++++++Decryption Completed+++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Vanu Occupied Forseral 2100 HOURS 1 klick north of the Eadon Amp station A quick glance at the strategic map of Forseral told me I was probably the only Loyal Terrain left it what was now a seething hive of alien converts. I put my Cycler to my shoulder and scoped the station one last time. Just the Vanu flag flying over empty battlements, maybe no one was home this deep into the belly of the beast. Then I was up, slinging my rifle over my shoulder I dashed for the stations south gate. Legs pumping, I gritted my teeth waiting for some hidden sentry to put me down for my boldness. Stamina spent I reached the gates force screen and dove for cover just below the gate turret. Cycler up I scanned the court yard. "Frag those Vanu scum!" the court yard was a well planned spitfire shooting gallery. My estimated chances of getting in that way low, about three paces beyond the force screen and I be a bloody speed bump for the next Vanu buggy that rolled out of there. Time to pull back and think about this. Directly behind me lay the Stations south east Tower. Sweeping wide around the structure I took out to remote gun placements, careful to screen my self from return fire, by pulling back slightly behind some small hills. Then I was at the Towers south Door, REK out a few short seconds in the open and I was inside the Tower. Cycler at ready I sweep the Tower bottom to top, Empty! Then REK out again, skin at the back of my neck crawling I hacked the Tower. Now it was time to get my boots up on the roof and see who showed up to do something about it. Exiting the top platform of the tower I sweep around to the low slope of the roof and began to clamor up. Contact! Even as feet found purchase, a Harasser came flying out of the Amp Station, petal to the metal it roared past my Tower. I spun toward it, bring my Cycler up and scoped the buggy, and squeeze of one sort controlled burst, just like the sarge taught me back in basic. I had the satisfaction of scoring a direct hit on the back of the buggy, before it disappeared into the gathering gloom. Wasting no time I scrambled to my perch at the top of my Tower and waited for them to swing around and attack at some oblique angle. A few tense minutes pasted.NOTHING. huh... oh well. Turning my attention back to the Amp Station I looked it over from the commanding heights of the Tower. NOTHING! Ok them, Target practice time. Siding back down the slope of the roof a bit I could have at the Stations turrets and the return fire would hit the side of the Tower, about level with my concealed midsection. A few clips later one turret was blown and it was time to return to the basement for some more ammo. Big mistake! As I hiked up all those stairs a security force of Vanu came ridding out to do something about my after hours gun fire. I busted a gut to get back up on the roof as they circled my Digs trying to get a bead on me. A short game of cat and mouse later and they got tired and parked it. Thats all I needed! I stepped up and let fly a few rounds in contestant number one as she exited the vehicle. My fun was short lived as the passenger, disembarked and let a rocket fly. I stepped back and avoided death, but was rewarded by a blinding flash and a face full of hot fragments and the projectile hit the Tower. "F That, I say" and put a burst into Rocket boy before he reached the safety beneath the overhanging Tower balcony. What to do? In a moment they'll be hacking their way in here. Oh well, guess I'll shoot the tires of their ride while they watch. Like Zeus on Mount Olympus high, I struck down with my thunderbolts, smiting the chariot of the wicked. HEH! They were coming for me, and now it was time to deal with that. I reentered the Tower and found the traitorous Vanu creeping up my stair well. I though they made a cute couple and let them know with a few bursts of my Cycler. My shots were hasty as well as their return fire and I was forced a minute later to retreat back to the dubious safely of Tower balcony to lick my wounds. Poking my head back in the door to exchange a few rounds with the Vanu and toss a couple of grenades back and forth I was forced back out, having to admit I was out gunned and nearly out of heath and ammo. Briefly I toyed with the Idea of leaping to my death from the Tower to deny the Vanu their kill. But thats not the Terran way! I was going out guns blazing and a curse on my lips to all who turned their backs on the Terran Republic. I swept around the balcony, so as to re enter the tower from the other sided and maybe catch them by surprise as they covered the door. But as fate would have it was already too late for that move. Enter the Calvary. As I played my final gambit and the Vanu rushed the door to deliver their final strike, a Terran Mosquito had swooped in, so as the Vanu emerged onto the balcony it was straight into his gun sites! The Vanu Duel opened up with everything they had and a few intense moments of gunfire later, Rocket boy was down and his girl friend was back in my Tower running for it! I waved a hardy salute to one P149U3, Outfit officer of the USKTA, My Hero! Just one last detail. Shot all up, a few last rounds in my Cycler, I reentered my Tower. Down by the Tower terminal control I found her, REK out hacking my Tower. She had a great body, thats for sure, but an UGLY face! "In the name of the Terran Republic I find you guilty of Sedition, sentence to be carried out IMMEDIATELY". I emptied my Cycler. That wasnt the end of the Battle, just the beginning.P149U3 called in Hestaby and the battle was on as other Terrans came through my Tower to Bolster our little attack. We lost allot of Loyal Terrans, but thats a story for another day. Thats the way I came to be hooked up with the USKTA. NEVER GIVE UP THE FIGHT! ++++++++++++++++Standby++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++Incoming Data log++++++++++++++ +++++++++++Decryption Completed+++++++++++++ ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Esamir Vanu Soverty: Looking back I suppose the Liquor had been talking when I hatched my plans to catch a little R&R on the sly by freeloading a ride on that patrol ship. Whatever the Vanu had hit it with I was the only one to clear the hulk as it re-entered the atmosphere, a glowing meteor. Nothing in my escape pod of any use, some clown had stripped it of everything that wasnt bolted down. Worthless Navy slugs! Now I stood knee deep in ice crusted snow, temperature a balmy -26 c. Bring my HUD online I saw with some distress that my Platoon was on the ground, on Sunny Hossin and fully engaged. That meant I was officially AWOL. Nothing to do about that, except making it up with some endeavor of my own. Perhaps if I caused some trouble way back here behind Vanu lines, those filthy Xeno lovers would have to pull their brainwashed fanatics off the line and send them here to deal with it. I toggled my map, the Bio Lab at Mani, that was my target, it was close and I needed a ride if I was going to survive this Frozen waste. The terrain was good and provided plenty of cover as I moved in. A quick visual recon of the Lab through the scope of my Cycler, seemed to indicate no one was home and no automated defenses were active. Why would they be, this was the Vanus own back yard. Maybe it was theirs now, but once it had been my home and by all rights was still Terran Republic territory, no matter what a bunch of brain washed zealots had to say! I moved in, right through the main gate, rifle a ready and hacked the court yards central lock. Carefully I entered, air inside was cold and still, a good sign lets hope there are no surprises. A few nervous minutes of traversing corridors and halls brought me to the main facility terminal, I hacked the lock and turned my REK on the main consol. Time crawled as I expected Armored Vanu sentries to move in and put an end to my foray. Warning alarms sounded as central override systems began to shut down, I set my chronometer . In 15 minutes my program would either override station controls or their would be a squad of Vanu here to reset the override controls. Either way it didnt mater, I needed to get as far away as possible until the last minute, I just was not equipped well enough to deal with even a small Vanu security detail. So I ran, rifle slung, boots echoing my passage through empty halls. I exited the Labs outer door, and the sweat flash froze to my face as I hit the icy exterior air. I took one step and froze! Mines! Some clever Vanu engineer had laid a semi-circle of high explosive proximity minds just outside the shelter of the doors alcove. If they had been placed one meter closer, I would not even have been a pair of smoking boots. I didnt have time for this! Reentering the station I made a mad dash for the way Id come in. The Vanu could have be here at any moment, and maybe already were. Feeling totally exposed I forsook safely for speed as I fled back out of the court yard, through the gates and into the frozen wilderness of Esamir. I put distance between me and the Lab, making for the air Tower to the east. I crested a shielding hill near the tower, sliding down the steep back slope, my face a frozen, ricktus grin. I almost stumbled upon another proximity mine laid near the door. Backing up a few paces I detonated it with a burst from my Cycler, no longer caring if anyone heard. Then I was hacking my way in, REK held in num frozen fingers. Soon the tower was mine, but there was no time to warm up, for the Vanu were certain to notice my latest exploit and put two and two together. In any event I was out of there. My timing was just right as trudged out into the cold and made my way back to the Lab, Vanu held or not. Id make it back just in time to see the results of my hack. With the Bio Lab in sight, I un-slung my Cycler and worked the slide to make sure it had not iced up beyond use. Then I re-entered and made for the vehicle pad, unopposed. I crouched behind the Pad Controls and waited the last few moments, just like clock work, my algorithms over rode base security and all was mine! No time to waste, I entered my security ID and called up a Mosquito fighter from the depths of the station. No time for preflight check out, I strapped in gained a few meters of altitude and throttled up to full power. I was over the stations walls and turning south east, then changing direction and going to afterburners a few times to clear the area. I was in business! It was hit and run time. My plan was simple, hit a base or a tower, in a random pattern, and move out and away before a response could be mounted. The more unpredictable, the more of those Xeno Zealots the Vanu high command would have to send in to put an end to it! My progress was not without incident, there had been a scattering of automated defenses in place, and my fighter took a few scrapes. I kind of thought it took that, new guy shine, off the bird and added character. I began to approach each target more carefully, like a great airborne hunting cat, using my guns to clear my approach. It was not until four facilities and half a dozen towers had fallen to me that the first real response appeared. In quick succession warnings sounded that, two towers and three Stations, were hacked. Likely two or three different Vanu teams at work. It didnt matter, I was here to tie them up, not re-conquer all of Esamir by myself. Their most likely strategy would be to catch me returning to countermand their attempted over rides. Therefore, new targets only. As long as I kept hitting and running in a random fashion they would show up far to late and Id be striking my next target. Back to the old game of cat and mouse! The sense of isolation in this frozen expanse was strong, I toggled my squad interface reaching out for some human contact. Ahhh, Commander Hestaby had taken command of second squad. I keyed my intercom. Hello Hestaby! a sexy deep throated female voice responded. Well Hello there Trooper. ALRIGHT! Time to play this one real smooth. You probably dont remember me Knowing she full well she did Just wanted say hi! Hestaby responded, that sultry voice every bit as feminine as Id remembered, Your right, I dont remember.Sorry! WHAT! Talk about taking a guys ego down a few notches! I keyed off the mic. It was time to stop screwing around and get back to business. Sooner or later the Vanu would run across me and my bird need some rearm and refit. An air tower would be my next target. Taking the tower was a piece of cake, now the danger, I need to linger on the tower pad long enough for automated repairs to be preformed. A few tense minutes later and contact! But this was a friendly, some Terrain ground pounder and just transited in using the towers re-spawn tubes. Maybe the beginning of an offensive! He wasted no time in getting to one of the towers turret defense guns. Hey, I cant leave this dude here, hell get his ass smoked as soon as the Vanu show up, time for a little conference, but hows this going to work with him on foot? I eased my bird toward his gun and dropped a few meters to hover in place. Hey there Bro! Glad you could make it! Then all hell broke loose! A Vanu Ground vehicle, an Aurora troop transport came racing in from the North West. I throttled up to one third power and maneuvered to engage, But the transport had a Reaver Gunship flying close escort, and I was taking heavy fire. I hit the after burners and banked hard away. The Reaver in pursuit, throttle up to full out over the icy ocean we raced. I had just done the one thing I said I wouldnt, hang around in one spot! I maneuvered wildly, Reaver in pursuit, his guns blazing. I was getting chewed up bad and had to do something quick. I cut thrust and turned hard to cut in on him, for a second I had him as he over shot. But a Reaver can take some punishment from a 12mm with that thick amour and soon we were locked in a deadly series of spiral twists and turns each trying to get on the others SIX. Unobserved out across the icy waves we danced our deadly duet. Got to get the upper hand, do the unexpected, break this dead lock. I waited for what I hoped was the right moment and broke hard left hitting the afterburners! The Reaver pilot opened up with a wild burst of his guns, raking the air. A violet jolt threw me hard against my restraints as a few rounds found their mark. But on my heavily damaged flyer it was enough, I felt the flight controls go slack in my hand as I lost maneuverability. Punch out, PUNCH OUT. The sub-freezing waves rushed up to meet me. |

Esamir: Air Tower Rebirthing tube.
A moment of disorientation and I was stumbling forward out of the tube and making for the equipment terminal. The Vanu were here and there was no time to waste. I keyed my ID code and brought up my weapons load out. Stunning pain as the consol locked and the display scrolled alien character. I reeled back and turned toward the stairs. The Vanu had just hacked the tower. The air vibrated with a thousand hornet stings as I headed for the stairs in a mad dash to clear the pain field. Taking the stairs three at a time I went down in a haze of red pain. My leap carried me clear of the field but before I could regain my feet I vomited forth what was left of my mornings egg protein breakfast, with plenty of bile thrown in. I realized for the first time I had my Repeater out of its holster and in hand. Oh No! The Vanu had hacked the Tower before Id gotten my load out, there was no way I could shoot my way out of here with this! I re-holstered the Repeater and unsung my Suppressor rifle and shouldered it. Come on baby get me out of here! I took the stairs quickly.. THINK!to late! A Vanu trooper rounded the corner a Pulsar Energy Rifle at the ready. I didnt need to think I opened up on full auto just as he did the same. I caught the Vanu in the mid thigh, armored torso and across to his shoulder as my weapon climbed with every recoil. He staggered back, but his own weapon answered back simultaneously striking me mid rift and chest like hammer blow driving me back in turn. I was way out gunned and the contest was short. With in a moment a Pulsar bolt struck me from my feet slamming me backwards onto the ground. Surprisingly their was no pain, nor did I any longer have any control over my body. This was it, Game Over Man, Game Over! The Vanu moved in on me, Pulsar leveled at my chest. Reaching down he caught the strap of my rifle and yanked it from my nerveless fingers, sending it spinning into a corner. The world going gray the Vanu leaned over me, and in a toneless inhuman voice said, SORRY! SORRY? what the? Frigging smart ass! Nothing like kicking a guy when hes down! Did I ever mention, I Really Hate the Vanu! +++++++++++++++++++++++++ ++++END TRANSMISSION++++ +++++++++++++++++++++++++ |
