UPDATE: Sporkfire has commented in
this thread about the status of the Seven Day War.
The "Shot Heard Round the World - Planetside's Seven Day War" is approaching quickly.
Planetside, the first "successful" massively multiplayer first-person shooter, shipped at this time last year. Today, Sony Online Entertainment says more than 50000 people still log on every month. We're wondering, though, if this endless cycle of war will ever end.
"Not by a long shot," confirms producer Raja Altenhoff. In fact, for the game's first anniversary during the week of May 17, SOE plans to stage the largest battle ever. To do this, it's reactivating the accounts of anybody who has ever played the game. It doesn't matter whether you quit or not - you'll be able to sign in and play for the entire week, according to Altenhoff.
Tomorrow, and all during the week of May 17, all old accounts which are in good standing will be reactivated for one week. This is being done in honor of Planetside's 1 year anniversary, which is on Thursday, May 20th. Be sure to be at PSU on Thursday night for a Special Edition of PSU's Ask the Devs Interview! (More information on that coming soon! To submit a question to be asked during the interview, go
here.)
So, if you don't play Planetside anymore, go dig up your Planetside CDs and get ready to play for a week! If you do play Planetside, get ready for a week of intense action! Prepare for War!
