I have not played many MMO games, so I don't know about this. Since this will be hugely international, how will they deal with multiple languages? Will they have seperate servers, some kind of translater (would be hard), or will I have to learn to speak Russian?
On a side note, I would hate to have to fight the Austrailians. Would you want to fight the Crocodile Hunter ("This is the most poisonous snake in the world, so I'm going to grab its tail and get it really pissed")? JK |

Theres going to be servers around the world.. US and Euro servers are confirmed whit a possible server in korea...
As for localisation, i'm not 100% on this but i don't think the game will be translated into anny language in the start.. You're stuck whit english.. The manuals and such will prolly be translated in Europe tho. |

...and only high ranking commanders will be able to speak world wide, plus there are seperate servers. Dunno how the Indians (people from India) are gonna communicate with ppl in Asia. Since there is only one eastern server.

Correct Zat.
I also HIGHLY doubt they will ever install localization for their servers. Ultima Online did that and it was a holy mess. Still is, kind of works though. Neat when it does. If anything, when they release the game to non-English countries, there would be non-English servers to go with em. |

They'll release the game in non english speaking countries, there just won't be anny localised software or servers at launch. Hasn't been talk of making localized servers AFAIK but it could happen in the future. Basicly, they'll release the game in germany (using germany as an example) but the game won't be in german and there won't be anny german servers to support the all german version.... It could happen at a later date tho.. |

I wanna see those in-game Mexicans take Auraxis in revenge for North America.

By the rote mastery of this art, your firing efficiency will rise by no less than 120%. The difference of a 63% increase to lethal proficiency makes the master of the gun katas an adversary not to be taken lightly. |

I thought that was obvious. I don't know if people are confused by my post. I said that
"only high ranking commanders will be able to speak world wide" and then went on to describe language problems on a server. Since there is only one server in Asia there will be many different languages. I have no clue how this lead you to infer that I meant people could speak over different servers(not including pm). This and what I said have corrolation whatsoever.

Chat channels are like IRC - theres no internal language converter! Anyone played EQ? It might just be me and the Tunare server but this was the days before localised Euro Asia etc servers existed. All servers where US based (think this only changed as recently as Q3 2002, I stopped playing Q2 2002). Anyway, on Tunare server we had a massive massive European play level, mainly UK (not as big as Bristlebane) and Germany with some French in there too. And an even bigger Asian play base (nickname on the server was HKs mostly they where from Hong Kong, English speaking). But anyway, there was not a lot of problem with the language barrier, most if not all people attempted to use English anyway.
