TF2 is great. Matches get really hectic really fast, all the classes complement each other, the graphics are nice, the levels are really fun. Its great. On top of that Portal is pretty fun too, but it pisses me off some times, and I am enjoying Episode 1. The orange box is easily the best deal for a set of games I have ever had.

TF2 is fun but it strays extremely away from Team Fortress Classic style combat and gameplay. These differences would include two essentials: slower gameplay and no grenades....which in my opinion makes the Team Fortress title tainted. What TF2 lacks in gameplay it makes up with the graphics - the game is simply gorgeous. I just wish valve would have shown a little more effort for a product that has supposedly taken nine years to create.
But overall it's a fun experience, and if you're picky like me about sticking to the roots of Team Fortress, there's always Fortress Forever [it's a free mod] (www.fortress-forever.com). |

Gameplay slower?
Um.. sure...if you say so. I'd only put a few games, like Unreal and Doom, above it in quickness. You can't say that Valve push an unfinished and unrefined game out of the doors in any way. TF2 is perhaps one of the best balanced and well put together multiplayer games I've ever played. It's well worthy of being a sequel to TF:C. Sequels should be an evolution, or even a revolution, of the game not the same old game with different graphics. TF2 does an awesome job in that, and many other respects.

Well when I meant sticking to the roots, I was more so speaking of TFC, and not the original Quake.
But I really don't know what you mean by saying TF2 is comparable to (quake) Team Fortress - in what ways exactly?

No grenades and more team based than TFC ever was. The demo man and pyro are good choices again. See, unlike in TFC, TF2 / OTF you cant have your whole team be HWG and win. Scouts and Medics have become very valuable. Esp the scout which had almost no chance of killing much of anything in TFC.
