It certainly takes away from the game. The CR system was broken from the start because it allowed any 12 year old who got a squad to get CR5. Only in the very early days was it actually somewhat useful when there were only a few. Now there are probably fewer non CR5's than there are CR5s.

Planetside is one of the few games to give individual players so much responsibility in the form of global chat, and I think fools like that do hurt it's credibility. Any developers thinking of implementing such a thing can point to Planetside and say "See? That is what people do when trusted with such a responsibility".
That isn't to say it's not fun to see some humour over global occasionally, but someone with the kind of mentality this "Magres" has clearly shouldn't be given such powers. |

There needs to be a command system where only the commanders that are decent and therefore have the respect of troops they are actually leading can contact large numbers of players at once.
How to do it? 1. Only allow commanders to use any command tools when they are leading squads/platoons/companies. 2. Make CR require both earning AND certification points like a support tree. 3. Make CR degrade over time. More details of my other ideas regarding command on my upgrade website. |

Some dumbass kid typing out song lyrics to about 1/3 of the people online...yeah thats definitely bad. The ignore feature definitely helps you, but it doesn't do much to punish the person abusing global chat. A kid like this isn't going to care about directing the zerg. They just want to pretend they are funny.
Now, with more CSR support, this sort of thing would be almost non-existant. Planetside 2011 is alot different than Planetside 2003. This doesn't mean I think the CR system shouldn't be improved, especially with alot of the great ideas you guys propose. We'll just have to wait and see what the sequel brings. |

The huge inflation of CEP is the main problem. Getting cr5 with 3x less xp not only means its easier to get but also encourages more people to go for it. If it were never increased there would be a tenth the cr5's there are now. Even after the first two years there were still very few of us. The high amount of cep needed turned off most people from even trying, let alone actually getting it.
Global chat is fine as is, just not when they go stupid and bump up xp gains. Its a freakin global, so any csr online would see it if the game was supported properly and quickly put a stop to it. And hell no on the degrade thing. Thats beyond terrible. Old CR5 was a pain in the arse to get. If i stop playing for awhile, then come back to find i lost it, i will track down the dev responsible and pull a chris benoit on his kids. You can make OS'es cost CEP, or other things that cost CEP to use. Aka you can save up to x amount of cep, and that cep can be spent to buy an os/reveal/emp or whatever. The amount you can save up would be balanced such that you would have to do like full xp base caps to get enough for an os and you could save up the xp from the equivalent of 10 full base caps. Numbers not set in stone, but just an example. So if you dont lead you cant keep using those goodies. |

degrading cep is a horrible idea, what that effectivly means is and outfit leader/officers get cr5 and no one else will, you also won't get current cr5's heading to ghost hacks to resecure, they'd be staying on the front lines to keep their cep high
borris blades idea's in the post above mine are better tbh

That was an important global message. I think you're overlooking how awesome that song is. I truly believe it has touched everyone's life after it was created. You are being rude to that person by pretending like only a child would listen to that song. How dare you.
If you mean people that can't take a joke? I think it places undue stress upon the world. |

Yeah this kind of crap is pretty annoying when being spammed, one does it for a joke, so another does it back and soon enough you have G-chat filled with the never ending gibberish of idiots. Ignore works pretty well but it would be nice to be able to punish this kind of behavior, I know PS doesn't have the CSR staff for it but this is something that PS2 should take seriously if there bringing it back. Gum up G-chat with crap you take a weeks holiday from using it, do it again and you loose a month, third time and you're banned from ever using it again. Harsh but fair, a simple way "Use it right or loose it". my three fiddy

These are jokes. Seriously though, occasional silliness in global is fine, the problem is more with CR5s who have this mentality...
