Cloaker Mobility: Hoverboards!


How about we make it so cloakers can have an invisible surfboard to ride around on?

Beats the wraith by a mile in coolness factor, while not imbalancing the game any more than a wraith would. If some of the more powered-up ideas that follow were used, then it would be more powerful than a wraith. I don't know if people would like it or not.

And, you shoot the cloaker, you damage the cloaker. If, somehow you shoot the board, the board takes damage.

Board has a small jet on the back mounted in a tail, sort of like the L1011 TriStar, and only shows up if afterburner is being used.

Also, hover-glides over mines without tripping them if it is at a low enough speed, and there are no MAS's around. However, one bit of damage to the board or player, and instant mine-magnet. In fact, anything but crouching on the board and slowly slipping by makes it detectable. No weapon drawing while on it, in fact, no drawing of anything other than maybe binoculars. If you want to draw your pistol, you have to step off.

Surfboard can be stuck in the dirt like a board in the sand on Maui.

Cowabunga!

This would be way simpler to code than the ATV, I would think. Imagine the cool of being able to hop on your hoverboard and skate around the place, do jumps, tricks, flips, whatever.

Same function as a wraith, with a few things added for fun riding experience, without imbalancing anything with a super advantage.

Makes cloakers good at the thing they should be good at: recon.

Can travel on water, but leaves a gigantic wake visible from a very long distance. Think Unlimited Hydroplane rooster-tails.

Imagine the chase scenes, as you follow another cloaker at maximum speed, over hill, dale, forests, through CY's, wow.

Imagine how fun it would be to watch people run into your board jammed into the dirt. That alone would be fun to watch, especially with the PS2 DL on.

ATV's are already confirmed to be in the game though. Higby said he would look into the possibility of giving ATV's a cloaking module.

Surfing over the landscape would be WAY cooler, WAY more fun, AND wouldn't cost anything or add anything as far as gameplay, vulnerability, or anything else.

If the hoverboard allowed us to farm others, then run away, and only take damage to the hoverboard, and bail, while still firing as it rams into the enemy and explodes...

Then it would be just another Mosquito.

So. No firing from the Gravboard, Vanboard, or Rocketboard.

And, the special edition for Americans: the Waterboard.

This is not Planetside: Rise of the Silver Cloaker.

I feel its going a little bit too far into the realms of 'Hey, lets add shit because it would be fun'.

Planetside has always been science fiction with a good foot still in the reality door, i feel hover boards would probably shut that door.

It reminds me of WoW in Vanilla, when it used to take itself seriously - and now each expantion is just another chance to throw in a load of pop culture references.

Thats just my view anyway .

Why? Every combat vehicle can shoot/run except for stealthers. Shooting at Stealther should hit Stealther, position revealed after first shot. Pistols don't do much damage at distance anyways. It should kick up dust when in close so the cloaker will have to dismount when trying to empty a clip into someone.

These are just concept/wish list ideas.

Wow. Really?

By my logic, of wanting to keep the game reasonably realistic by keeping out hovering skateboards, you took that logic as 'I want to stomp out all the fun in the game, to the extent where there is no game at alll'.

Come on, i've seen you post before. You're not that stupid.

So lets try this again. I don't think that hover boards have a place on the battlefield next to Tanks, ATVs and Fighter Jets. If you want to put something into the game because its cool just for the lulz, then where do you stop? Why don't we add funny hats depending on what holiday we're closest too, or in the winter time everyone looks like a snowman and instead of firing bullets we fire snowballs.

As I said, why else should stuff be in the game? How would this make the game worse? It is supposed to be high-tech and futuristic. ATV's could have been invented in the 1930's. They aren't exactly high-tech or futuristic.

Having this would make cloaking more fun without detracting, in any way, from any other part of the game.

Pilots get hovering planes, planes, that is, that can hover at any altitude. This thing would only be able to be within a foot of the ground or water, so it is terrain-limited.

Even present-day special forces ride a wide variety of things that are fun things to ride.

I don't see why this would be bad. I just like the idea of standing and travelling, not sitting on an ATV. This would be cool.
