Naval Combat Confirmed?

This just in from the Game Info Page on the Main site.

"With air, ground and seaborne combat, the battles will be larger and more intense than ever."

Might the developers been holding out on us this whole time?

Naval is coming after release. No point in prolonging beta/release for something you could easily add later.

Id agree with this as well, yet I dont think they have yet to say we ARE adding Naval combat until now, they've always just said wed like to do it. Am I correct in this?

oh yeah, der. Missed it in that last line. Everywhere else it just says air and ground, but it does say seabourne there. Maybe at launch then? They did mention over 20 vehicles and we only know of about 11 so far.

i think i have read this text before. maybe they just took an old press text and forgot to whipe the word "seaborn"
after all, every other text on the new site talks about land and air, only.

I'm guessing after release as well, and the reason being we know there are only 2 empire specific vehicles at this point.

If there were naval vessels you would HAVE to have at least ONE that is empire specific.

Air, Land and Sea

1 ES Air vehicle (fighter)
1 ES Land vehilce (tank)
1 ES Sea vehicle (TBD)

They've more or less tipped their hand on that one, yeah. It probably ain't gonna be in beta, but it's obviously something they want to expand on. Water combat opens up a LOT of really cool possibilities.

I for one hope they expand underwater, not just on top of it. Imagine: water bases with underwater entrances, diving APCs rolling along the seabed, hunter-killer subs, amphibious MAX suits, specialized diving armor and handheld torpedo launcher/spear-guns.

So much potential awesomeness it boggles the mind. Especially because it's pretty uncharted territory for an FPS.

they have tanks that can hover over water and stuff that can travel on water, id say it counts as seaborne combat.

Yeah, I think fagriders, thundies, raiders, and deliverers can be considered naval. Also, Higby's confirmed in the past that currently, people float in water, and that they're still working on the exact mechanics of swimming. What that tells me is that there's every possibility of a cloaker army invading at nighttim by sea.

personally, i would expect to see some seaside combat in PS's future along with low orbit combat.

the fact that PS's new system requires resources and you have the iconic oil platform, i would expect to see fighting over these things.

During the last webcast Higby listed fast attack boats and midget submarines as possibilities.
