to find out more about this read The Landing
Looking off to my left and to my right as I came to the edge of the forest, I could see just how many men were involved in this operation. Thousands of men scurried forward like ants on a warpath. As I crossed the field to our first objective (a bio lab 5 kilometers inland) I could tell that more men and munitions were still being unloaded onto the beachhead. The bio lab had been almost completely abandoned once they heard the beach had been taken. The only thing that remained was a squad of MAXs and two Mag-rider. We over ran and hacked the base within minutes and within the hour troops and supplies poured from the base like bullets from a Mini-Chaingun. One of the first hundred people out of the regeneration tubes was good old Thompson. It felt good have the squad back together. Reporting to division command, my platoon, along with two other platoons, was to take a small outpost in the middle of a small forest. The base as usual was abandoned so we took it with no casualties, but something didnt seem quit right. The squads dispersed to set up a perimeter around the forest. As my squad moved into position and spread out along the trees I saw a horrible sight, enemy troops had camped all along the opposite tree line and not just a squad or a platoon but a whole army!! Everybody noticed this and immediately took cover behind trees; the enemy troops did the same. Judging from the color of their suits I figured they were Vanu. I ran back to the outpost and told company command. Apparently they held a counter attack around the forest since they couldnt get their tanks through; we were trapped, trapped like rats. When I got back to my squad a fierce firefight had ensued, the amount of rounds that flew our direction was far more than that of the landing. After a minute the fire ceased. Day turned to dusk; dusk fell to night and soon troops felt sleep pulling at their armor. Nobody could sleep for sleep would let yourself open to the enemy. Knowing the Vanu they had too much pride to attack during night for that would make them (in their sense) cowards. Several explosions sounded on my left, harassment. The Vanu were keeping us awake buy lobbing an explosive every half hour. Ours pressed on, I could hear fighting back toward the beach but it stayed in the same place. This meant we were holding them, but at what price? Tens? Hundreds? Thousands? More explosions sound. A new day arises and I can tell it will suck already. Firefights sound all over the forest. I was even engaged in a shoot-off with a Vanu soldier. After a clip of Gauss in the chest the man never stood again. The second night comes, I fear to sleep but it yearns me to come like a good-looking woman would. Slowly the sleep takes over and I nod off into unconsciousness. The tree I lean against fells soft and warm like a pillow as opposed to the cold hard metal floor of the outpost. CABOOM!!!!!!!!! The tree next to me erupts into a ball of fire as the tank round slams it head on. Thank god for this as because just as I get back to my squad a small band of troops are thrown at us we mow them down but still took casualties, Thompson once more was shot through what seemed to be a thousand bullets. About mid-afternoon a hole was punched through the enemy line and a squad of MAXs made it through before the enemy could seal it up. The third night has started and sleep has now become an issue, men now take sleeping in shifts but an hour shift isnt enough. Mosquito have been heard during the night and have begun intense strafing starting from midnight and lasting all the way through noon. As one of the Mosquito squadrons came in for a pass, they fortunately didnt take notice of the MAXs that had moved to the edge of the forest. Within seconds 5 chunks of metal lay strewn among the trees. A major break through has occurred they are retreating the whole division moves to the edge of the forest to make a surprise attack. Most of their troops have retreated so the lasted seconds and the breaking of their siege was fast. As me came to the edge of a flat our forces finally caught up to us. From every were troops swarmed out across the flat followed by tanks, Galaxys and anything else we had. This huge swarm would have made anyone cower in fright. Fatigue caught up with every one who had survived the forest siege, muscles ached and eyes screamed to be closed soon the whole division would be able to slip away from reality and sleep knowing that the enemy had ran. We stood victorious against the demons let lose upon use and escaped the bloody hell of the Forest Siege of Cyssor
