The Store, on the Block...

Im not advocating this at all, but I wonder if they have in mind, or anyone would accept... the idea of a IP unlock subscription, so that access is unblocked through the store. Pro7 gets its money, players play where they want. Its not optimal, but its a possibility. Could be a money making ploy already in the works...

Its definately a sidegrade... as in a full continent away sidegrade...

Anyway, who knows, just a thought.

Why would you pay to have bad ping? Stick to your region so you can enjoy the game.

I think a better iteration of this idea is that premium members (yes this does exist) will have access to any server while freebies will be limited to their regional server.

Wow Grog. You came up with the only way SOE could make me like them any less.

SOE have been getting this right for years, putting up international walls of any kind is nothing but regress.

I wouldn't be paying to have a bad ping, I'd be paying to avoid ProSieben. Not that I would pay for such a thing, I'd sooner not play at all.

Yeah, I do see it as their "solution" though. Apparantly, and correct me if Im wrong, the deal is in place... Pro7 is there to make money, so anything that inhibits that will not be part of the solution, and the only thing I suspect they will come up with is this suspicion of mine...

Having no IP lock is an easy thing to figure out, so I am guessing Sony had to conceed this already, because Pro7 would get nothing, or at least far less, once the exodus to American server accounts start. The only thing that keeps the integrity of the "deal" is if there is an IP lock, so the cash flow remains constant to each side, assuming the draw of the game is stronger than the revulsion of the playerbase to the situation.

Hence, all I can figure out is that they would allow Europeans to play on American servers... for... a... price... and that price will be, as always, subject to the law of supply and demand. So, they will attempt to forcast how much money they can syringe out of everyone, with as minimal blowback as possible, accepting some losses as par for the course.

I would pay extra for SOE handled EU server. Best of all. Low pings, and staying under soe, ignoring pro7.

Honestly? I don't buy this whole "the deal's done, there's nothing we can do" notion. As Vash said in the other thread, contracts can and have been broken. How messy that would be for SOE depends on the contract, but I think the sheer amount of good publicity and additional players they'd gain would more than make up for it.

Well, lets hope they change their minds, then. Though, I am speculative given the research I can only imagine they put into it already. Reversing course and accepting the consequences, after they already signed the deal? Referencing the quote above... They have a bird in the hand now, will they actually get the two in the bush?

Hmm, well its better that they do it now, rather than letting the infrastructure take a grip. Pro7 will be entrenched once the game launches, and it will be harder and harder to back out.
