While researching my tactics site I came across the different section sizes in military forces around the world. Also talked to my old second in command, DarkDragoon who went off and led real world tank units about his experience.
Now PS had 10 man squads, but what do you think PS2 should have, and why? |

I would say 12 Dave. The reason is 12 can be divided into so many nice numbers. Also its bigger than PS1 numbers For example:
1/12 2/6 3/4 4/3 6/2 12/1 Now unless your lone wolfing you should really always be teamed up with one other, in pairs at least. So I say 12. |

Yeah, 2 combat pairs in a fire team and 2 or 3 fire teams in a squad gets my vote. So either 8 or 12. 12 makes it more flexible for those that want it, as you can always not have more people in the squad if you do not want them.

I feel like 8 is a better number than 10. The first thought most people (even myself) I feel have about reducing the number from the old game is that it is bad. Honestly though I think 8 is a nice solid number and is easier to manage and coordinate than 10. Lower doesn't have to mean bad, there are upsides too.

i would like if squadsize equals a full crewed galaxy. what´s that? 12?
for obvious reason. i always liked the idea to be able to put the whole squad into one transport for a full squad hotdrop. having to leave someone behind would suck. and platoons can be seperated into one galaxy hotdrop squad, one air escort squad and one vehicle attack squad working together. (if or when platoons will be reintroduced)

the bigger the better. with the amount of people that are going to play the game there will be alot of people wanting to play together. i would like 15 an squads and 45 man platoons. or maby commanders can cirt to make bigger squads.

If squads were 12, then it would be difficult for people to be dedicated gal pilots outside of their squad, since nobody would want to leave a man. Last edited by CutterJohn; 2012-04-10 at 07:12 PM. |

If numbers have to be fixed, I'd say 12.
- Which can do most can also do less. The contrary isn't true. - as mentioned, it's easily divisible. A cool function to add above what was available to squad leaders in PS1 would be to allow dividing the squad into smaller units like fireteams of variable sizes and allowing the SL to assign/manage them. (useful for multi-crew multi-vehicle squads or for target assignment) Yes, it can also be done outside of PS2 but it would be more convenient to have it displayed in-game. |

Lets split the difference between 10 and 12. I think 11 is a prime number for squads!
