I know there multiple nods that have to be captured and the more nods you control the faster the hack? But how do we hack.Is the REK coming back? If so is it Infitrator only?Or is it like stand around a nod and you start to capture it?

We know we can hack enemy equipment terminals and doors....and so far that's it.

Capturing a Capture Point apparently doesn't involve hacking anything.

Last I checked, hacking was a ban-able offense...

Lol but srsly, basically what Knocky said, plus remember you can't jack vehicles anymore. I want to say I remember hearing them say that the hacking specialist would be the Infiltrator.

It's time to get over the phrase, "Hacking". It's "capturing" now. Hacking will be something Infiltrators can do to affect base systems.

As for the capture mechanic, there are multiple models they are considering, of which, several methods will be used.

Will this effect my vehicle animations?

It's a huge shame that we are unable to hack enemy vehicles. I play for the NC and it was a huge privilege to occupy and gun a Prowler/Magrider - this sort of thing doesn't come around very often, therefore enforcing the crew to actually CARE about staying alive even more so than in a Vanguard for example.

Agreed. Having to watch for cloakers is something that helped keep immersion in the game. I'm disappointed to see it won't be returning for 2.

Ditto.

Although i dare say down the lines they might have plans. Aslong as it isnt something bollox like "install a vehicle mod, and you can spawn enemy vehicles". I hate that system. Takes all the individuality out of situations, vehicles and people.

As far as hacking goes, i pathetically wish there was a little hacking minigame, best ive seen was from Alpha Protocol, not insanely difficult, but a puzzle which under fire would be hard enough to complete that it would sort the men from the boys.

I suspect they won't be able to keep something THAT awesome from the game for long.. At least they had better not.

The look and feel of driving away and repairing a newly jacked Vanguard or Magrider in TR Black and Red is something uniquely PlanetSide.

I can't imagine the sequel never having this. At launch, maybe not.. but never? That would simply be blasphemy!!

And now that there are Empire Specific Aircraft, it would be even MORE satisfying to fly away a TR Scythe or Reaver and show it off back in friendly Hexes

Well last I heard from Higby, the memory allotment was already set for all the vehicles and customization skins available for each. Having empire specific colors along with all the customization options for every empire specific vehicle would put it overboard.

To keep cloakers relevant though, and to kinda give that feel of vehicle hacking, there could be a NDK, or Nanite Disruption Kit. Basically you would use it on a vehicle as if you were hacking it in Planetside 1, except it would deconstruct the vehicle instead of changing it's faction. Imagine a Sunderer parked just long enough for a cloaked to use a NDK, deconstructing the vehicle but leaving all the passengers without transport. Mix in a surprise C-4 amidst the confusion and you have HELL of a lot of fun!

For real, what's the thoughts on "Capturing" and the new "Hacking" requiring some player-skill, either via puzzles or simply a time-based hindrance that doesn't act like a loading screen?

I'll happily throw it up for a vote when ideas are fleshed out... God knows I love threads of fiery arguments over minutia.

As i understand it, capturing only requires your empire to establish a foothold in either one of the capture points in order to take-over the entire facility, although having control over 2 or 3 of these points would hence capture the facility faster. This could be an effective system as the front line would fluctuate often.

As for having a puzzle while capturing? I think this system would create a niche for a whole new class - a hacker.

Horrible.

Let me Guess. The target Audience can't be bothered to Rely on another user ( If the are not that class ) to accomplish anything, so now Base captures will not require others. Other than Zerg standing next to Hex A.

Planetside 2 Is going backwards.
