I like the game so far, it kind of reminds me of Killzone 2.
The gun gameplay so far has been really slow, no movement when a person shoots at all.....I see people standing shooting at eachother in the open. So since their is minimal movement, I think the game should have a real cover system similar to Medal of Honor Airborne A cover system like this will fit the game perfect because the movement of the game seems to be very stationary. People might say it might lead to camping, well depending on how tough maxes and Heavy armor are....they could probably dominate close quarters by rushing or whatever...so campers won't be a huge deal in close quarters. In open spaces...people will take cover anyways so it won't really create a problem...Only thing it will allow is people taking more cover which isn't bad IMO. Taking cover is way better than people standing still shooting eachother in an open field IMO Of course I doubt they will put it in game since it will be risky but it will be great IMO.... |

the thing is though, if covers there why do you need a cover system...just crouch. cover systems always feel clunky to me and very consoly, your video confirmed my suspicions when a big green button popped up in the centre of screen.
Time crisis is pretty old now, i think its time to get over it and cover systems. oh yea forgot: Last edited by SKYeXile; 2012-05-29 at 05:33 AM. |

Cover systems are great for a game with a slow movement pace like planetside 2. |

Yeah, keep assuming that the gun play is slow/no movement off of a video where people are both not playing seriously, and not in an ideal environment. For something that had slow movement, it seemed rather fast. People were still moving around while shooting, and were even jet-packing around the field during combat, that seems the exact opposite of slow/no movement. Also, no cover system, it likely would be irrelevant, and at worst, get you killed because of light assaults with jet packs.

All the movement I have seen has been very miniamal...I do think I saw somebody shoot while jet packing but that doesn't mean the game is fast paced. Show me these famous video u are talking about where the movement is very fast paced plz. |

I just watched like half of the infantry vids again and just about in every shootout both parties are moving while aiming down sights. Slowly, due to the ADS, but moving nevertheless :P
That said, I wouldnt call the game fast paced, but neither would I call it slow paced either.

It's not that difficult to crouch behind cover by ourselves, really, and get out of cover to spring to somewhere else.
I never seen the point of those automatic covers in FPS games (at least in TPS, you get to see the animation of the guy getting in cover), I still don't see it in Planetside 2, where there won't be enough covers for the number of players anyway. |

in other words to this guy if your not moving fast strafing with stalker like in MW3 the gunplay is then slow and you should be sticking to walls & cover like ghost recon all over.
No thanks.. the gunplay pace will be just fine.. We don't need a twitch shooter and we don't need a ghost recon either.. PS2 is in the middle and will be fine. |

I agree that you can't really base the pace of combat on the video's that we've seen. Every fight people used their iron sights and aimed. But i think this is a matter of prefrence. I, personnaly like hipfire quite alot (rambo style ftw) wich will be higher paced.
Besides i think this is a chicken/egg type of deal. If you implement a cover system the pace will go down. I agree that cover systems are a console deal because its hard to position yourself accuratly and at the same time shoot accuratly due to the limited control of a controller. Also we havent seen all the weapons you can use yet. With a bullet based weapon cover makes sence, but taking a lesson from ps1 there will prolly be grenade launchers and other aoe weapons. When you are being shot by these i think a cover system will just be plain annoying because you lock to a wall and it will take a while (not long but still ) to get out of the cover and run away. So in summation: i don't think any pc game should have a cover system since the game will just become a glorified version of duck hunt. On a related note, can anyone tell me if prone is gonna be in the game? Edit: I wouldn't mind to see the ability to lean to the left and right tho. Last edited by Meecrob; 2012-05-29 at 07:22 AM. |

I hope to thats hip fire will be better than BF3 or COD because in those games pass 4 feet the hip fire is a catastrophe ! Killzone 2 and 3 hip fire is really good also MAG on ps3 hip fire was good but not good as Killzone ! |

Cover is just the act of hiding behind things, you can already do that without an actual "cover system" give us a lean key and you don't have to put in all that silly sticky wall malarkey. In fact lean keys are awesome and should be in every fps ever, and prone include a prone option especially since a large part of the game will be played in open out door type locations.
