Some of you may know that Battlefield 2142 was inspired by Planetside 1, but the best thing about it is the Titan Mode. I could see this implented in Ps2. Behold the greatest mode in gaming history:
Any thoughts how would this work in Ps2? |

I'm not sure if you've been paying attention to the game play videos, but capturing bases is very similar to this. It won't work in PS2 because this type of capture doesn't require you to hold all of the points. One of the greatest parts of PlanetSide was being hunkered down with a platoon in a CC knowing that you were the last line of defense. I don't like the idea of holding 3/5 points and being able to capture a base. You need to work for every inch.
PS1 veterans will agree, this carebear type of conquering will not be tolerated. |

DUST 514 is doing something similar to this as I recall(not sure if you can actually get inside the ships themselves during the map, though). And word has it BF 2143 is being developed. I'm ok with Planetside 2 being the odd man out here.
I loved Titan Mode though, 2142 was a lot of fun. |

I had really mixed impressions of Titan mode. The first phase of it - maneuvering your titan and obtaining ground superiority to control the missile launchers on the ground so you could destroy the other team's titan - was great.
Fighting inside of the titan itself consisted of camping narrow hallways with ammo boxes, mines, and underslung AR rocket launcher spam, and it was really stale. |

I believe Titan Mode is actually something Higby has actually talked about. I think he stated how he enjoyed it too, and they will be looking into such a thing, so no worries. There is in fact a chance we will get something similar eventually!

Not that those won't exist in PS2 without it, though! |

Hmm. Could this be the "city buster" of PS2? The thing that breaks the stalemate if you manage to take it from your foothold and station it over/near a troublesome enemy base? Would add a whole extra dimension to gameplay, but would also potentially be very disruptive to the more standard weapon systems balance. Food for thought. |
