I just wanted to post a bit my thoughts how these should work in general. We know that BR 40 is making a comeback. We also know that there are no plans for CR to be in PS2. OR is as far as I am aware not coming to PS2.
My thoughts on BR are that it should remain largely as is, but perhaps have a title upgrade along with it: BR 40 First Sergeant PlayerName BR 35 Master Sergeant PlayerName BR 30 Gunnery Sergeant PlayerName BR 25 Staff Sergeant PlayerName BR 20 Sergeant PlayerName BR 15 Corporal PlayerName BR 10 Lance Corporal PlayerName BR 05 Private First Class PlayerName BR 00 Private PlayerName This would help determine a player's BR on the fly when the armor won't necessarily be an indicator. As for CR, I think they should be in, but only cosmetically. You earn CR at any level, by completing mission as SL, but the titles don't start to take effect until you reach BR 20. CR 10 General (BR 40) CR 09 Lieutenant General CR 08 Major General (BR 35) CR 07 Brigadier General CR 06 Colonel (BR 30) CR 05 Lieutenant Colonel CR 04 Major (BR 25) CR 03 Captain CR 02 Lieutenant 1st Class CR 01 Lieutenant 2nd Class The CR grind should be roughly the same to get to CR 5 as it was at release, so CR 10 is difficult and long in the tooth. CR grants nothing other than a title to recognize persistent leadership. I'm sure at least one or two players named Pain will will rank up to Major and stop. OR is a way to advance the entire Outfit as a whole: OR 05 Outfit becomes a Cadre and can be on 'outfit' leaderboards. OR 04 ?Base Claiming? OR 03 Can upload custom insignia OR 02 Can choose an outfit uniform for infantry and vehicles OR 01 Can choose a default insignia OR 00 Freshly created Maybe OR should also be symbolic, not really sure. Don't really want to go the wow route and make a massive gulch between new and established outfits. Input is appreciated. |

First of all, you should just go ahead and poop your own pants right now for using USMC ranks
No JK that's fine maybe have the option to change the theme of the titles? For example I would prefer Army, some people might want Navy or Air Force. Idk, really just an aesthetic thing. And for the CR stuff there's a screenshot floating around somewhere in these forums that shows that command rank will indeed be back in ps2 (at least in the alpha build at the time it was taken -- all subject to change of course). I think CR abilities need to be nerfed and spread over a bigger rank structure (like your suggestion of 10 ranks instead of 5, also mirroring military officer rank structure). OS was cool in the beginning, then just got annoying when everybody and their dog made CR5 and just OS spammed bases and towers. Outfit rank.....I'm not sure how I feel about that. I think instead of having specific abilities that each rank gives (like the original CR model) it should be it's own cert system (more like BR) and have a pretty massive and diverse cert tree. Perhaps model it after the BR25 times of PS1 so that no outfit can completely overpower the entire cert tree, but just a portion of it. Of course this would mean you'd have to allow resets so if you grab a cert that ends up not being a good fit, you can change it to a better one. |

I used USMC, but not really attached to them. Normally I'd work out a W40K system lol.
Each empire should have their own though. The TR could be standard homogeneous military, the NC could be something similar, but distinctive (like USMC vs Army). The VS should use something completely different to further separate them from the more human empires. I think it is important that CR itself gives no abilities or tools. If CR 10 gives the EMP or OS, that is all anyone will care about and we will have a game full of Generals. |

Yeah agreed. The screenshot that showed command rank had it as a branch of the cert tree, which kinda makes me concerned about players being able to cert leadership abilities just by getting a lot of kills rather than through actually successfully leading squads etc... but we'll see how that's going to come out.
