A little bit different than sanctuaries, since I want these continents to be part of the war so anybody could take over.
Anyways each empire should have their continent..Each continent will basically be some Giant city that has characteristics of the empire So for example the VS continent is a futurastic alien kind of continent..so all buldings look alien like..The whole map will look as it takes place in an alien urban city The TR Continent is more traditional so it will resemble more of an urban kind of city with big skyscrapers, etc. The NC continent will be full of factories and not good looking buildings...it will look as if people are fighting in a 3rd world country with factories (Im exagerrating) I think the variety these continents will bring on top of the original Planetside maps will be amazing. /Yes.
Other than that, here, take my flame: VS don't live in alien huts. I mean they are all (both NC and VS) are actual TR citizens, VS are scientists, NC are miners, TR are militia. I don't see any builders along these lines. It's really annoying that VS are misinterpreted as humans that had sex with aliens. But if she's sexy I'd totally tap a female humanoid. But that's not the point. They only borrow their technology, they don't REBUILD THIS SH1T BECAUSE IT LOOKS HUMAN! That would be so if devs weren't so lazy in creating ES common-pool geometry. No, it's doesn't fit the back-stories imo and I doubt they'll change them. Don't forget that these "empires" aren't real empires but recently emerged factions involved in a civil war. Ok, I can buy they designed and produced some specific vehicles, armor and weaponry... however whole cities with distinct architecture, it's too stretched. That would take way longer time span and completely different back-story.
Variety of continents should be primarily in climate conditions and vegetation... bases should be different from continent to continent (but no empire specific) and within a believable spectrum of styles not like suggested in OP. Some Vanu ruins scattered around different continents would be cool too.. |

I always imagined the home continents panning out like this:
Hossin TR capitol: Sanctuary. TR get a metropolis with straight roads, a high-way that rings the outer rim with a second interconnected highway cutting right through the center. Including the bases of importance, there's an actual capitol building towards the TR safe zone that should act as a unique base layout found only on this continent (gives it that special feel.) The area would have to come pre war-torn, as fallen skyscrapers and the rooftops of those still standing would act as the mountains and cliffsides, with generally rubble allowing a sort of hillside gradient so that one may climb them as infantry or in rolling armor if the climb wasn't too steep. As TR are supposed to have the superior speed regarding their armor, the easily navigated highways and roads (sans those blocked by rubble and other debris) would play well to the TR's strengths. Esamir or Ceryshin VS Capitol: Deliverance. The continent's "beaches" would in fact be frozen water that stretches a good 1 kilometers in starting from the southern most tip (where the NC and TR start) with solid islands dotting it, some with bases. Crossing this lake is near suicide, as hard enough impacts will temporary punch holes into the ice before freezing over again. Vanu vehicles would naturally be immune to the issue. However, coding might be difficult or too much for this. Upon reaching the actual shore, it's a steep climb into a frozen valley, where frequent blizzards severely hamper visibility. Despite this, not too far in invaders would find a massive warp dome similar to the warp gates, but still allows weapons fire. Inside they'll find a small city surrounding a massive temple, which is in fact a derelict Vanu starship, nestled within a rather temperate climate. Kind of like the worlds biggest bio-lab. Arguably, the ship is the focus of Vanu reverence and the primary source for their technology. Amerish NC Capitol: Haven I really don't know what to do here. I was thinking thick jungle, a dam, and maybe some temples or a canyon with structures built into the walls that look like a mining/industrial city (functionality vs aesthetics?) Do note, I'd love the see an urban sprawl as a continent complete with roads, alleys, skyscrapers, parking garages, high ways, bridges, and tunnels, even if it's not a TR specific continent.
