(Note that I am relatively new, any mistakes within this blurb fall on my head. For instance, the Pheonix might be a rocket launcher.)
I have noticed that in PS1 there are a lot more vehicles than have been currently revealed in PS2. For instance, we had the sky-guard, which is now gone. The phoenix, also missing. The lodestar. On the other hand, Customization is a big part of PS2. You can now make your Magrider specialize in bringing down vehicles or infantry, or even aircraft. Will these "lost" vehicles and more be placed into the game, or will all the previous slots held by these vehicles be replaced via PS2's customization system? |

What we know of right at this moment is this; we have vehicles that fill extremely broad roles, and can be customized to better fit a more narrow role. The medium faction-specific tanks can swap weapon systems to better deal with infantry, ground vehicles, or aircraft depending on what the pilot wants. Same goes for the light aircraft. There's multiple general vehicles; a tank for one individual, a quick ATV transport, a large squad aircraft and ground transport, and a bomber. Essentially, we have very general roles covered right now with the current vehicle sets. There isn't anything particularly missing, so the game is able to function with a limited vehicle set. As NoDachi mentioned, you will likely see more specialized vehicles come out of the pipeline later on in the game's lifetime. These new vehicles likely won't impede on the general roles the current vehicles provide. The newer content will likely fill roles that did not exist before, or try to offer a more specialized role than what is available with some sort of trade off. |

Also remember, PS2 really isn't starting with much less than what PS1 had at launch. All I can think of are the jeeps and the aircraft have shifted roles a little but still starting with 2 options, because the liberator was a previous expansion.
The other vehicles like the ams and ant are just not needed with change of gameplay. I might miss hunting for cloak bubbles with my lightning but there will be landed galaxies instead. |

^^^ So true, when PS started it didn't have the amount of vechs it currently has.
Also, take into account with all the ways a player can customize a vech to their play style. So, it is possible to see variations of a Mag, Prowler, Lib, etc. on the battle field. So, can you guys imagine how it would be a year after the launch of PS2 when they start introducing new vechs?
