http://www.pcgamer.com/2012/07/19/th...lels-to-day-z/ Aside from the rip-off name, this game looks like it may have potential. A few things that made me cringe automatically was the mention of NPC quests... god no... getting the vibe of "retrieve 5 zombie brains to feed my family and I'll give you two pistol clips" Eh. We'll see how it turns out I guess. I'm kind of biased from how DayZ seemed to set the bar perfectly, and this game sounds kind of goofy with being able to purchase houses, optional hardcore mode, item marketplace, etc... it's been mentioned that weapons won't have realistic ballistics.

It's based on World War Z, so i'm not sure why that's a rip-off name.
Anyway, i'm interested.

Sounds like what www.undeadlabs.com has been trying to make for a few years. This is a different company though.

Left 4 Dead 2 is extremely boring IMO. It's linear, there's about five weapons, and you've played the entire game after 5 campaigns. L4D1 was better.
Day Z > Killing Floor > L4D overall though.

The Left4Dead series is the CoD of the zombie genre. There was a lot of potential with the multiplayer engine, but they dumbed it down into an action FPS with zombies instead of armed opponents.
Even Dead Island was better than the L4D series, and that's saying a lot. |

Troll harder. A game with just screenshots (that look amazing) with a quick description and you try to say it "looks like crap" and your zombie game of choice is L4D2. Either that or you're a huge fanboy.
I'm surprised you can't agree with the criticism brought forth for it that this game solves. The L4D series as mentioned was very linear. I personally played both games through once and stopped. Even my friends got bored with it quickly. It has very little replay value.

The idea of a persistent world where it's a REALLY big deal as to whether you live or die is very cool. But... and this is a massive, badonkadonk but... the business model ruins it.
With a $29.99 one-time purchase, I'll probably buy it just to constantly make new characters and kill people. Oh, your character has been alive for 40 days straight? Let me stab you in the back and check out the cool stuff you've found over that time. |

If War Z is a great game...great! But I'd just like to point out that Arktos who is working with Hammerpoint on this game was responsible for that F2P pile of garbage War Inc. which is one of those crappy Gunz/Combat Arms/rent-a-weapon for 20 dollars type of games. If they bring that flavor to War Z then...ugh...no thanks. |

The games you guys listed are in the Zombie genre, but they are in different sub-genres completely. L4D series is more about killing zombies flat out to get through a level. DayZ is is much more about the survival of the player(s) in a world. There is no end goal other than surviving long enough to say you survived X amount of days.
Its just like comparing PS1 and CoD. Both are considered FPS, but CoD is about the quick kills and fighting for 1 match while PS1's main drive was to be massive scale and epic. "You can't compare apples to oranges." |

The WarZ and Zombie survival books are awesome , It would be nice if the movie and game could live up to them .
As far as Zombie game to date I feel they have all fallen short in one regard or another . The latest DayZ is hyped out the ass , The Z's on this game can be disregarded once you know the very simple basics of avoiding them . Surviving for long periods becomes the norm and hunting gear gets old rather quickly . Soon after your left with loling nubes in cherno with a Lee Enfield as the only entertainment DayZ has potential but running on the ever buggy Arma 2engine theres defnetly scope for WarZ to step in and do things far better . |

Only in terms of the amount of hours someone can devote to playing video games, since PS2 will be F2P.
