Is it the drive that only needs a cert, or does the gunner need one as well? If that's the case, does the driver get to operate the main gun? If not, what is his incentive to drive the tank? I mean, most people, if they're going to spend a ton of certs on something, are going to want to be able to use the big gun. If they can't they won't spend the beaucoup points it takes to get the tank, and no one will drive them.
I hope the devs are aware. |

You know, I've noticed not a lot of people want to be in a tank unless their the gunner in Tribes 2 as well. What's up with that crap? Perhaps it's cuz they're not getting kills, which isn't the point anyway. The objective is the point. Luckily PS allows Squad BEP so this should be less of an issue.
I don't mind driving tanks since I know just what kindof damage they can do. I loved camping the enemy's vehicle pad and spawn points with a Beowulf in T2. Funny thing was, even when I bought a Tank and hopped in the drivers seat I still would sit around for quite a bit of time until some newb who didn't know how to aim a tank mortar would hop in. I'd get so pissed watching shrike after shrike cowboy take off I'd eventually ram those cowboys when they were in the vehicle selection screen...which got me banned from a few servers. Perhaps I should create a character with Tank certs for all those lonely turret gunners who can't convince anyone to drive them around. |
