i have been lurking around for awhile and have a list of questions i havent seen answered, so here we go:
1.) When a player is ressurected ( gonna call it rez'd), do they have a form of rez sickness where (lets say 1min) they have a penalty to all defensive and offensive stats/dmg output? 2.) Since killing players yeilds xp...is there a worth or xp reward timer on a player? basically lets say i am a sniper..i kill guy and it gives me 500 xp..then he gets rez'd and i just shoot and kill him again instanly..do i get 500 xp again? 3.) I think i heard you can have like 4 characters per server. So lets say i have 4 chars all BR20: tank char, healer char, solo char, and an aircraft char so i can have the right guy for whatever my grp needs. Where do characters log in/out of a game at? can you do it anywhere or do you have to be at a AMS or local facility? 4.) Assuming you can log anywhere, what is the timer it takes to log out of the game? basically what stops you from loggin out of a game when you know a group is comming after you? 5.) Lets say you saved/binded, whatever PS calls it, at a local AMS. When you die, do you have the option to release to your home sanctuary? 6.) When you are bound/saved at a local AMS, if it gets blown up and then you die, where do you release to? 7.) Is there an auto-release timer? If so, how long? 8.)Will planetside support windowed mode? Since everything is pretty much saved server side, dont think aimbots or any of form of outside program would work to well, if at all 9.) Lets say i have Dark Light vision and am using a phenoix rocket. When i fire the rocket does the dark light vision transfer to the rocket screen so that i can kill the stealthed wraith i see? that's about it for now..all i could think of.....any answers to these questions that i havent been able to find, would be awesome. thx |

1.) Theres no STR, AGI, STA things in PS. You do however have a reduced armor and HP when you get ressed.. Gonna need to be healed and repaired. No offensive loss.
2.) Nothing official about this. My guess, a small timer to prevent BEP farming abuse. 3.) Pretty sure you can log out wherever you want, nothing official about where you appear when you re-enter the game tho. I'd guess the facility you're bound at, sanctuary or instand action if you pick that. 4.) My bet, the standard 30 secs. Nothing official about it. 5.) Yes. You can also choose the facility you last bound at, a nearby facility and your sanctuary. Or another AMS i think. Theres a screenshot of it in the media section. 6.) See 5 7.) 5 minutes 8.) The code supports it, wheter or not they will allow it hasn't been officially stated. 9.) Seriously doubt it. I'd go so far and say no. Nothing official on it tho. |

1 don't think so.
2 yes 3 I believe you pick a spawn tube to appear at. 4 Nothing, but when you log in again, I believe it's the same as respawning, so logging out wouldn't help you. 5 yes 6 Any other bind point you have, if nothing else, then the sanctuary. 7 ? 8 The devs have said they are considering this. 9 Probably not.

Whoa. I would say those are all pretty intelligent questions. Most of these threads are just people asking obvious questions, and other people saying "FAQ YOU!"
The darklight/phoenix thing made me laugh. Obviously it's not likely -- but this man thinks like I do. I do a lot of bugfinding/testing, and I always try the crazy, half-plausible shit (which is necessary because we're using an 'organic' cellular automaton to generate our timeline trees, which is necessary for a lot of reasons like database compression and empty field compression) -- so it's so complex that our other programmers really didn't have a good idea of the kind of flexibility it allowed users, and a lot of very weird stuff was possible without very tight constraints on user abilities. I swear to god, man . . . I should be in beta. Damn it all to hell.

Actually, it's funny how simple this stuff is -- it's just that it deals with a very, very specialized field that is an amalgamation of simple programming and ordinary 'higher' mathematics, so the syntax is unfamiliar . . . but the concepts are incredibly simple.
If you want some brain food (ie your brain is getting fat and lazy) but don't want a HEADACHE and frustration, buy "A New Kind of Science", by Stephen Wolfram. The book LOOKS horribly complicated and it's like 1200 pages long or something -- but more than half of that is Notes; the first half is written so that the Everyman can understand it. Lots of pictures, too (since perception and analysis of 'randomness' are a central theme of the book).
