There's been some out for a month or so now, are you advertising for them or something?

I've removed the links and reported the content. The less publicity we have on this stuff the better I don't want PSU to be a source of people figuring out how to hack.

In the future - report these to devs via PM on the Official forums or here. Or feel free to report them to me, but don't post up links and videos.

No I'm not advertising, I'm trying to get word out so Sony can put in some bot protection. Is Sony going to use Punk Buster or something?

Probably for the best, thanks. I just wanted to get word out so this can be stopped.

Regardless if you're intending to advertise or not, someone who throws in "PS2 aim bot" into google could potentially find this thread, then the link and the youtube video. They then find the hacks and look for a way to acquire them.

It happens. Even on my own community's site, whenever we make threads about sharing beta keys to members we get random people who sign up on the site going "can I has one?!"

But yeah as Hamma said, your best bet is to just PM it to them. I'm sure there's also an email you can find too.

I don't remember, but did Sony build in some basic anti-cheat mechanism in ps1? I hope they did or do for ps2.

Like VAC or something that would at least deter the casual cheaters. Nothing deteriorates a game more than cheating, even if it's just rumors. They need to squash this now, especially if real money is involved for legitimate players.

I think they're going to, but they're also going to be relying more on admins in-game to watch players. They've got a spectator mode that devs can turn on and use, so that's one step in the right direction.

Report a player, get an admin to watch their screen then issue out the ban hammer. No anti-cheat software or system will ever be better than an admin.

Re: An Aim Bot has emerged

PS1 had an anti-cheat "Algorithm" which spit flags about potentially cheating players that a GM would have to then "investigate" to see if they deserve a ban.

Unfortunately, the cheats in PS1 were very subtle in most cases and for whatever reason (budget cuts I'm guessing), many of the cheaters in PS1 got away with it.

Yeah. Kind of worrisome since this game is FTP.

At least the old subscription model/account ownership was a deterrence unto itself.

Here, any riff-raff can come in and cause chaos if they wanted to.

Anyways, people won't spend money if they feel like this game is compromised. At least I won't.

Well this in nothing new
Making aim/wh-s is big business now
Only way to combat this is to hire more programers to write anti cheat algorithms (never ending battle )

LoL has good anti cheat system (they have whole department for that )

Let's hope our friends at SOE purchases a ban sledgehammer.

The Feds need to get involved in these hacker's and send Navy Seal hitsquads after them.

Or at least counter hack them, to the point they never dare advertise another game hack to the USA market.
