I want it to look like this ^ but instead we got the nasty model that we have today. I just don't understand who thought it was a good change? It makes the TR what they are, I used to love them just for that MCG. Just another disappointment with this game, I was hoping it was placeholder because they hadn't got the animations in or something but no..... |

T.Ray said they changed because you couldn't shoot with it over railings since it was below waist-line, and that you had to leave cover to shoot it (HURR DURR, WHO ISN'T DOING THAT ALREADY?)
Which I find to be a really silly (putting it lightly) reasoning. Ok, no, it's STUPID reasoning. I honestly don't care that it can't shoot over railings provided it was powerful enough to warrant the drawback. It could have been a balancing trick Currently it's still a pretty worthless gun to use even in cqc And anyway, who doesn't peak out of cover in order to shoot? I'm worried that because of this silly reasoning we won't have any unique or experimental looking weapons down the line. Damn it SOE, let use play around with the old model Yes I'm mad about it considering it's such an iconic weapon of the TR Last edited by SturmovikDrakon; 2012-11-07 at 03:52 PM. |

Apparently bullets come straight from the weapon in Planetside 2, so the MCG being underslung meant that the bullets it fired came from about knee high. They tested it and determined it was horrible so they scrapped it for now.
Hopefully they can figure out a fix. It's ugly as is. Last edited by Aurmanite; 2012-11-07 at 05:14 PM. |

I haven't played PS2 for ages, I just cannot bring myself to do so as it has so many things wrong with it. I thought SOE would be fixing it all and taking their time but everything that was wrong a month ago is still there and it's only 12 days from release. I swear this happens with every SOE game, promise loads of features and half of it doesn't make it in for launch and when it does no one cares as everyone has quit. I could live with the state of the game when I thought beta would probably be going onto next year. Just knowing howeverthis is the game the public will be subjected to.. it will tank. I have lots of friends who like BF3 and loved PS back in the day, not one of them likes PS2 and the same problems crop up again and again.
I love the new aircraft designs, they're really nice and feel like they had a lot of art work done. I love the sound effects of the aircraft too, they're just really nicely put together. Then you have this quality difference between them and the ground vehicles, I just find the ground vehicles to be so bland, nothing Iconic, the design is poor and the sound design is poor. Only thing I love about them is that satisfying metal crunching noise as you go over bumps. The weapons also just lack, I haven't found one that I like and it really makes the infantry combat unplayable. I'm gonna be honest I went TR purely for the MCG and I was so disappointed when I saw the model they put in. I just cannot play TR any more knowing that whole mess exists, it's like when they removed the glow from the Vanu Force Blade. However cause I invested so long into that character I just cannot bring myself to make a new one and lost interest. I think that brings me onto another problem and that is unlocks should be account based and not character. It isn't just the weapon design that ruins infantry combat though, it is just boring and it feels more point and shoot rather than tactical and aiming properly. The guns just feel so inaccurate and hit detection isn't satisfying at all. It is a hard thing to explain but when I play Red Orchestra 2 it is so satisfying getting a kill with a bolt action rifle. Nothing feels better than nailing that shot and the game just gives you that feedback you need. However in Planetside 2 (the only thing I can compare it to) the sniper rifle just feels light, cheap, there doesn't seem to be any bullet drop and kills are too easy. I just don't get any joy in getting kills, the game doesn't give me the feedback I want. I keep aiming over everyones heads because bullets seem to go in a straight line when I'm using to BF3, Dayz or Red Orchestra 2, that that is another poor thing. Infantry gameplay just is so boring atm, I wanted city areas in Planetside 2 as we all wanted them in Planetside and all they've done is created the same basic base setup where they copy and paste. The only difference is the bases are massive but there is nothing in them really, there isn't much actual in door shooting. The only time I ever experience it is in the Biolab where that is just a camp the spawn tube setup. Other than that it seems to be the same rectangle open door small buildings where it all happens, though you get camped by vehicles. With FF and people warping about all over the place due to high pings, I just find tight infantry play to be even worse than Planetside. I really could go on an on, I'm also not a fan of the spotting system or how you travel between Cont to Cont via tiny Terms or how there never seems to be the huge battles of Planetside, everyone is always so spread out. The game has so many issues and Smedley just doesn't care, he makes that perfectly clear with all the tweets he makes. I mean the ones about not being able to preview before you purchase are just horrendous, I've wasted so many certs on stuff that turns out to be crap. I've wasted certs on the wrong thing and there is no buy back option... why did WoW put that option in years and years ago? Mistakes happen. Now people can make those mistakes with real money and they cannot even preview or buy back within a certain time if they make a mistake. There is no excuse for that, it needs to be in day one. It is such a shame because like all SOE games they seem to have great ambition, get to about 60% done to an acceptable launch product and they push it anyways. I dunno why I bought it this time because if I think back they made all the same promises about their last games too. Whatever I'll probably come back in 6 months to see if they've fixed the issues, which will probably be a no lol. |

Do you have to post in every thread about all the things you hate? This thread is about one particular topic and not how you aren't going to play PlanetSide2 for six months.
You even made the thread keep it on topic.

I wouldn't be on the forums if the game was perfect, I mean there still isn't any AA options or options to turn off the blur in the distance or the crazy amounts of bloom. This is a PC game, give us all the graphical settings!

I think hamma's point is that keeping things on topic make it easier to organize the discussions. It doesn't help your case to create a thread about each of your complaints about the game and then dumping all those complaints in every one of those threads... people start to skim your posts because they're all text walls.
Anyway, back on topic: I'm not TR and even i agree that it shouldn't be the silly little rotating rifle currently implemented... If something is going to fire 400.000 dollars worth of ammunition in 12 seconds, it better not look like a nerf gun. Last edited by Dagron; 2012-11-08 at 08:10 AM. |
