Arrow Trans Air Continental?

I remember reading somewhere that aircraft can not fly from island to island.
But the distance over an island is sometimes greater then the distance from one island to another. But if you can fly across continents, then why not those short areas in between continents?

The Warp Gate power radius only extends over the continents. Aircraft use that for power. So theoretically, if you get enough coconut oil, you can fly your plane over the ocean. Start saving up.

What I meant was, there's some continents that are so close, that they are half the distance of a continent. So why can I fly across a continent, and not a shorter distance, just cause it's water?

Ok, look off my purty map.
So I can fly from point A to B. But I can't fly from A to C?

Whilst on a continent, you have unlimited fuel due to the warp gates power. Once your craft leaves the saftey of the continent, the vehicles 'power' begins to drain until there is none left and you promptly fall into the ocean and drown.

dont get too caught up in the made-up reasons why gameplay desicions are put into place.

they work like that b/c the devs designed it that way to structure a specific type of gameplay.

People have given you the real reason, I'll give you the technical:

MMOs are not hosted on one server, but rather multiple servers. Must likely, each continent is hosted seperately, which is one of the reasons they choose to break up the continents and preload all the information there. It makes the game flow better for you, and get general performance over all.

They way i think of it is, all the continents arent on a flat world allowing you to travel from one side to the other. Its more like they are stacked up on top of one another. If you somehow manage to keep flying when you are suppose to drop like a brick you would eventually get to the end of the world and fall.
