By the time you get to 80%, you either pushed the opposing force out or cornered them in their spawn room. The music becomes very anticlimactic I feel. Maybe make it play sooner? But then it would be on repeat too much
Also, it never plays during defense I feel like by making music tracks so short (minute each) SOE kind of backed themselves into a corner on how to properly implement them, since they're going to be repeating almost too often. Same thing with travel music. What should have made up a background atmosphere never plays, and when it does it feels so out of place. It just comes and goes in an instant |

PS1 music followed the mood of the moment and location. ie. empire ownership, near enemies or enemy base, actual combat, state of hack (direness of situation). Relief at victory.
Seemed like they wanted to do the same with PS2, but most the time, I don't hear any music at all. Then again, most people turn it off in combat to hear footsteps. |

I think these people are the reason they decided to make music so rare and inconsistent, or at least I remember Rodney mentioning that people simply turned the music off to hear the sounds of combat
Funnily enough, people still turn off music even if it's so rare Now those that did love the background atmosphere music provided are left with practically nothing Sounds of explosions get boring after a while. The game doesn't feel "alive", it feels empty |
