I think I finally realized why NC weapons feel weaker that Vanu's. It's all because of that flinching mechanic. I don't flinch as much when NC hit me vs. when I get hit by Vanu. It's also what makes weapons like the Solstice seem more powerful than the data suggests. When hit by the Solstice I rarely have a chance to hit back because my sights are jumping all over the place. I think if they got rid of the flinching we will see a better balance between weapons. I don't fight against TR so how is the flinching when you get hit by TR weps? Really why is that shake/flinch or whatever you call it even there? It's so annoying and doesn't seem necessary.
Actually if they were to go by weapons characteristics, NC's weapons should cause the most since they hit hard and Vanu's shouldn't cause any because they are lasers. |

I didn't necessarily bring this up with outfit members as a reason why the weapons feel weak (they dont feel weak to me) but this is a mechanic I feel is really obnoxious. To me, it ends up turning infantry combat into a tank battle in the sense that he who gets the first shot wins. I guess that isn't necessarily a bad thing though.

But the thing is it's not who gets the first shot. I'll hit first then they'll fire back and my sights start jumping all over the place and I die. I wonder if this is ROF related. Weaps with high ROF cause this more than the slow high damage weapons.

yeah... screenshaking from enemy hits and screenshaking from nearby explosions are waaay too much. Annoying if you will. It's not a problem if you are in a small fight but in those big fights there is constantly something exploding and it gets annoying.

It really sucks when you have the perfect shot lined up with a sniper and an explosion hits near you,I gotta agree.
I don't think NC weapons are weak though, whenever I get close to an NC Heavy I get shredded in one second. Normally I have a fighting chance with the Soas, but not against NC at close range it seems. So I don't think they are weak. |

Although I actually think this is positive (I should've just stayed further away if I wanted perfect conditions) but this is when it comes to tank battles and explosions, I do dislike the effect in small arms / infantry combat since it's pretty much impossible to return fire at times simply because of the shaking. However this is kind of how combat is supposed to be, they might wanna tune it from being relient on number of hits/rof to actual damage taken tho (bit ridiculous when a shotgun hit in the stomach causes less screen shake then a few pistol bullets). |

Edit, actually I think the shake when getting hit by a sniper is good, but that's about the only time I don't mind when it happens. Last edited by boogy; 2012-12-28 at 09:56 AM. |

Yes this has been mentioned many times before. the Flinch mechanic and its poor implimentation really mess up game balance.
It would be much better if it simply was that for 10 seconds after being hit you lost a set amount of COF. Have all guns lose the same amount and have no bonus for multiple hits.

I dont want to throw away weapon stats - I just dont want them having an effect on flinch. All weapons would work the same as usual - except that once you had been hit there would be a standard COF amount subtracted from what ever your COF would be otherwise. Your COF would still get all the normal penalties for auto fire, movement and etc that it normally would.

I don't get it. I hope NC isn't talking about their LA/engi stock carbine. I hopped on NC for a while and played Light Assault and I LOVE that thing. I much prefer it over VS's stock LA weapon.....but not my precious VX6-7 though. I'm glad I got my Auraxian on it before the nerf comes :/

these days. It's a losing battle against guns that flinch you. I now play Light Assault and Engineer. My K/D has drastically improved. |
