Well, space does eventually have to open up to a more general participation group. Can't always be restricted to the military.

Well I don't know, I believe the military does the same. The ones who turn out not to be fit will be sorted out early enough anyway. You don't think they'll be put into space without rigorous training and a selection process? The company responsible even wants to turn that process into a reality TV show, I presume they will use the profits from that to go towards the project.
