My friends that I invited played for a bit and got bored. They all had gaming PCs so they never had performance issues. They're playing Path of Exile or CS:GO/BF4 now. One got to BR 36 before quitting though due to repetitiveness.

I don't want to annoy them with the following conversation: "Planetside 2 updated!" "Oh cool, what did they add? A new continent?" "They tweaked Indar and Esamir a bit and Biolabs have a new layout!" "oh, well I don't feel like downloading it again for that."

I am still not playing much because of a lack of time and still bad performance (yet I have put in more then 300 hours so far). Patch didn't do much for me, but I am on the lower end, so I wasn't expecting any magical fix for that.
Haven't heard from friends etc that anybody would come back. Most of them never had performance problems in the first place. Almost all quit because the game was stale/boring for them after a while. And that didn't change and most likely will not change for quiet some time. Maybe some will check it out when Hossin is out, but it's not like Hossin will be a complete game changer. More the new flavor of the month until everybody goes back to Indarside.

Judging from the stats my server (Miller) is seeing a little more players and a lot more players on the weekend (we are actually able to fill more then one continent, yay!), but I have my doubts that it will last. Even with the performance patch the server is still waaaaaaay below the numbers in August and player fatigue will kick in again after a few weeks.

The optimization patch has brought back lots of old members in the outfit who we have not seen in a long time. Everyone of them who I have talked to are loving it since they seem to be able to actually play the game now without it being a slideshow.

Not really. I mean the first barrier to overcome was performance but if you get them beyond that I hear the "this is nothing but a never ending large TDM". Basically they want more of a point to the game. I know I hear folks say the point is to have fun but to have fun there really needs to be some sort of point to the game. Let's not put an MMO into the same category as round based games where the point is simply winning the brief match, people expect far more depth from an MMO. This game just feels incomplete and it's like we are funding any future enhancements or at least proving to SOE it is worth further investment on their part. I hate F2P, it just causes so many shortcomings and pushes developers to create too much fluff instead of substantive content and this is not an exclusive behavior to PS2 either.

Yeahhhh, the game gets quite tedious after the 1000th time you've captured crown...

one of my mate is liking it though, he can now actually play the game. Me and rest of my mates still don't really feel like coming back 4 realzzz.

I like the performance a lot, but meh, need new continents, vehicles and gameplay mechanics. It's been a year allready and everythings constantly getting pushed back over and over. Adding more high-priced helmets to the store does nothing for me, sadly.

Really starting to feel like the UI, some structures and weapons have gone through billion reiterations but rest of the game stays the same.

As far as players coming back, our outfit has started getting more members back online and we are now running regular ops twice a week.

Yes.

There are 2 or 3 people on my steam, and a good 3-4 in my outfit that stopped playing because of performance, and have since started playing again (or at least I saw them hop in to try it out again).

That said, there are a couple people who I know that quit, who have said that they will be back with the resource revamp.

Several members are back.
Performance was always the biggest complains to Brazilian players, we have bad pcs here.
Now it is no longer a concern to us.
