We joked about making a "beta beer" announcement here also. But we very carefully didn't put out that request this time.
That was a blast with T2, and the wild and wooly shop that was Dynamix...but SOE is a more professional place and we're handling the beta as efficiently and logically as possible so that a) the beta is as effective as possible, and b) there's no cries of favoritism after the beta is completed.

Man...I miss those cases of micro-brews though. Heh. I swear the T2 team drank its way around the world a few times with all the stuff that got sent to Dynamix.

Seriously...that's not even the right address. (The dev team for Planetside is actually in Missouri outside of St. Louis.)

We absolutely will not, in any way, shape or form, show favoritism in the beta selection process. Seriously. Only qualified applicants will be admitted.

If, after understanding that we will NOT show favoritism in our beta selection process, you still insist on sending beer, then go right ahead...who am I to stop you?

But seriously...please don't send beer as a bribe for beta. It absolutely, unequivocably, will not work.

Ok, I know that this game is going to be a monthly fee, but seriously, for a FPS game, $15 a month is a bit much.

Of course, to the hardcore gamers, this isn't much. But imagine this. Star Wars Galaxies (at least $15) + Everquest ($12) + Planetside ($15) + any other non MMORPG game that may come out during the year.

Even if I didn't another game, playing these three games will cost over $40 a month!?!? (Not inclucing the initial costs of the games).

Would I like to play Planetside? Yes. Is it $15 a month better than Tribes 2, Halflife & MOHAA (all for free by the way)...the jury is still out.

The $15/month fee stated in the CGW article is not official.
Quite honestly, I have no idea where they got that number since we here at SOE still have not decided what that monthly fee will be.

It's a good bet it won't be less than $9.95, but I haven't heard anyone here say $15 yet. That doesn't mean it *won't* be $15...but it would suprise me if it was true.
