I have been following PS for a long time I just never bothered to post on sites, just read them. But I joined today and a chance to get beta is pretty cool. One question...
My system: Abit NF7-S XP 1700+ 512 PC2700 Radeon 9000 64mb 80gig ata133 Maxtor HD Cable broadband It does really well for me on most games, I get the occasional 100fps in BF1942 at 1152. BUT my obvious main concern is how well PS will run. Can I run at 1024 with full detail with this? Last edited by Seabass03; 2003-04-10 at 02:31 PM. |

if you have a radeon, I think you should stick with the radeon. They are good cards...I got my 9700 Pro in and the thing is amazing, only its being pissy with my Windows 98 so I have to upgrade to XP. But on the 3dMark test, I got somewhere around 11500 something, which is pretty nice I believe. You could also go with the 9600 Pro when that comes out sometime soon, if not already. With switching to a different manufacturer for your card, you have to uninstall all the old drivers and everything, which can get annoying. With upgrading your card in the same company, all you have to do is update them.

Anyway, yesh. A Raddy 9000 is a bit on the weakish side. A 9500 PRO or a 9600 series card would serve you well if you don't feel like forking over the major bling-bling for a 9700 PRO. |

I have a 9500 PRO and I can honestly say you won't be disapointed. I run BF1942 on full detail (even with a bit of AA/AF) and it runs smoother than a babys hienie!!!!
although It might not hurt to look at the 9600's they are, after all the next generation of 9500's although I haven't seen much about them, it seems logical to check them out. Last edited by OneManArmy; 2003-04-11 at 10:16 AM. |

True, I will check them out and if they are only a slight improvment I will look for the 9500 to drop in price a bit. I will be anxious however, I will be playing PS for the first time in 40 minutes !!!
I just looked at the black PCB version of the Sapphire 9500 Pro from Newegg for $177 shipped and it looks sweet. I want it !! Last edited by Seabass03; 2003-04-11 at 10:28 AM. |
