like 150-250, which seems like alot, considering I have cable...
but, I havent noticed ANY lag-lag yet! Slight frame-rate-loading-loss-things when you enter an area with a billion people, but no real lag. ^_^ very happy with planetside

People bitching about lag are :
1- Just whinners, they don't really lag but just want to bitch about something. 2- Always on Cyssor and wondering why the fuck do they keep lagging meanwhile trying to frag the 1000(out of 2000) peeps on said continent. 3- Using a 14k modem. 4- Mistaking "hardware lag" for "net lag." |

I'll have a very good system to play planetside on ie 9700 pro, 768 mb ram, 1.8 gig athlon, but my connection sucks. I have 256 dsl upload and download. But i have horrible upload drops. Every 20-30 seconds my ping goes from 120 to anywhere from 300-1000 for 5-10 seconds. It's caused by my upload going down from 220k to anywhere from 70k to 110k. I think it's caused by my router, anyone know how to switch from a router to a hub? My friend did it, and it's pretty difficult, and he has a diff router then i have so his setup was completely different.

For me its usually 150-200, which i consider pretty good since im on the west coast of Canada.
I have seen very little actual lag. My comp can play with Medium graphics well, but i play at Low since i get some pretty big loading freezes when doing things like exiting bases, etc. I have, however, had a bad lag experience. It was on Oshur, so the continent wasnt loaded, but people started warping around. I was killed a few times in a row by invisible people. (stealth suits with mini-guns! ) But considering this is the most people that have been on the server it doesnt mean much. |
