Author Topic: Medics Suck!?
brandx505 Station Member Registered: May 2000 posted 05-02-2003 01:57 PM user search report post -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I am currently playing a medic because I thought it would be fun and a useful part of a good squad; however, to get someone to stand still for enen a SECOND while in combat or not is like trying to pull thier nose hairs. Am I the only one experiencing this trouble? Maybe they should make the healing "gun" shoot a little further and not have to have the person stand still then I would love it. And how do I revive someone as an advanced medic? I once got a msg that I was reviving someone when I was trying to heal them, but it didn't seem to work. Sporks Answer is..... SporkfirePS Station Admin Registered: Jan 2003 posted 05-02-2003 02:25 PM user search report post -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Intrepid is correct. The abilities of the Combat Medic are currently underused. When I run with other Devs, we use the Medic cert heavily and we know it is quite good. Unfortunately, the general playerbase does not use them their fullest. That's a problem that the Dev Team is looking: how to give the medic some more obvious advantages and make them more common and useful in general perception. There is still more they can do with the cert. I am an eng and adv medic in beta. I have found that if you have a really good squad that actually listens to you when you tell them that you have the ability to heal and repair armor, the medic role becomes a hella lot of fun. Last nite for example, I was in a squad that was consistently asking for healing, repairs, and revives. I was working extremely hard to keep my squadmates in tip-top shape, and they loved me for it.
I can even heal/revive some people outside of my squad on occasion. I created some text macros for the local channel that say: "Hold still. I will heal you." "Hold still. I will repair your armor." "Wait! Don't respawn. I can revive you!". They work pretty darn well, at least for the non-noobs that check the chat occasionally. The other nite, I was part of a tower battle, and I told an VS AI max to hold still while I repaired his armor. He did, and while he blocked the incoming bullets, I kept his armor constantly going up under enemy fire. After the tower was hacked, he turns around and says "I owe you one." Good times, hehe. Oh, and I believe its great that they are making medics more useful. I still hate when the occasional idiot will keep running away from me despite my repeated attempts to get in front of him with the med applicator.
