I noticed that in the last 2 weeks the pulsar and gauss have had their accuracy turned up a notch, does this make them as good the Cycler? Also, post your oppinions on the mini chain gun, compared to the other heavy assaults, personally I think the lasher requires too much skill to be as effective as the other two pull the trigger and point the gun weopons the NC and TR have (kinda takes the fun away playing with vanu). Vanu's hover Jets were fun, but now they aren't anymore, and since they took away so much energy, you really shouldn't get hurt when you fall back towards the ground.

its very very balanced now, Cycler's COF goes INSANE after 4 shots, but so does every other Med assault empire speicifc rifle, gauss still has the up on damage, Cycler has 50 round clips, and Pulsar's AP ammo switch is as easy a a click (well it is a click)

don't mean to change the topic of the post, but can any NC players tell me if the jackhammer is worth it when it comes to indoor battles, or should i go with the gauss

Jackhammer is very efficient indoors now, I can beat out chainguns most of the time now,but anything over 20 yards outside is a waste of shot. AP slugs + Jackhammer = Dead MAX. I've got 5 CQB MAX kills with it today. A huge improvement over what it was in the past.

Jackhammer seems to be better than a mini-chaingun at the moment. The mini-chaingun isn't bad, but if you move with it while firing you can say bye-bye to your accuracy, and you'll not stand a chance against a jackhammer user. The lasher also seems to be doing much better than before. It's very lethal indoors or at close range (just like the other heavy assault).
As for the assault rifles, it's hard to say. The pulsar doesn't seem that bad (it's way more accurate than a cycler) and the gauss isn't terrible either. I don't have enough experience with either to say for certain if the cycler is balanced though. |

Jackhammer rips people arpart now. Not even the famed Yetskii (who complained that the NC were underpowered when their Phoenix was god-like and continued to moan about them being useless after the balancing) is saying anything about his "Junkhammer."
The chaingun still wipes the floor against the VS. The only comparable thing they have is the Lasher... which is not. The snail orbs are VERY easy to dodge and even outrun. I've had the jump on people outdoors, and all they do is calmy turn around to face me, start strafing, and shoot with their Cycler. Doesn't matter if even 4/10 of his bullets are missing me - because not even the "lashes" of my snail orb are damaging him. In closed hallways, it's an okay gun against infantry as long as they don't have another Heavy Weapon. If they do, it's about a 65% chance you're dead. I've had much more killing success with the Chaingun than Lasher. Unfortunately, I've only had the pleasure of trying the Jackhammer in VR. I haven't lewted it off a corpse, nor do I have an NC that has that cert yet...

From my own experience as a VAnu player I find that NC and Vanu battles are usaully more balanced. Both sides don't seem to own the other with any particular weapon.
TR v Vanu fights are another thing entirely. A handful of Cycler carrying TR chew through Vanu like paper. Not sure how the NC are fairing. Don't get me wrong, I love killing TR and I've had some really great fights against those guys, but I've come to hate Cyclers with a passion. I get a warm fuzzy every time I manage to bring one down. The Vanu don't have anything that can really compete against that thing. I use the Pulsar only against MAX units where I can easily switch to AP rounds or when indoors where nobody can really dodge your rounds. Outside the Pulsar is usually crap as the rounds can be avoided by an aware opponent. I'd really like to see the Pulsar rounds travel faster than they do now. As it is I usually avoid the Pulsar and go with the Punisher. It's versatile and the rounds travel fast enough that I can usually actually hit something. The Lancer and the Lasher are nice, but it takes awhile before you can actually gain enough points to get the Cert. In the mean time most Vanu players have to deal with a poor selection of weapons in the early stages of rank advancement. |

ever try to dig NC out of a facility or a tower?
GD jackhammer.....its all i can say. DONT engage NC up close...its all that needs to be said. NC in the open is usually alot easier, especially with TR weapons, IMHO. I love when the MAX's start wandering outside the facility....its decimator time I even use em vs. NC MAX indoors, its like personal savior. First shot, duck beind a corner, 2nd shot, dead NC MAX. Now if i could only get the rest of those pesky NC bastages.....

According to the latest character maker thing, my guy can hold:
Gauss 3 boxes of 9mm rounds 3 ACE's Jackhammer 1 repair canister 2 boxes of shotgun shells Decimator That sounds like bullshit, with that setup i can be effective at long range, effective at short range, and have an anti vehicle option with 3 turrets/motion sensors/boomers and even a bank and a repair canister for my armor. And if i'm not lazy, i'll get zoom implant and regeneration implant at a bio lab or my sanct, and maybe even darklight once i hit level 20. All that at level 14 seems bogus. I thought it was more "specialized" then this. edit: Oh yeah, question: how do you take a weapon out of your inventory? Do you have to drag the weapon with a cursor into a holster? Can you assign a key to doing this process? Is there any way to switch weapons from inventory to holster in less than 20 seconds? Last edited by Venoxile; 2003-05-10 at 10:25 PM. |
