It allows you to perform Command Manuevers. Its effectiveness increases as your Command Rank increases.
CR1 - Allows you to set waypoints CR2 - Allows you to set waypoints your entire squad can see CR3 - Allows you to draw up battle plans (Think of those digital pen things you sometimes see on those tech toy shows) CR4 - Allows you to send continent wide broadcasts CR5 - Allows you to send worldwide broadcasts (And do orbital strikes, but that was taken out until it's fixed) I think that's it, someone can correct me on that |

Need to be CR2 to get it. When you pull it out and press the fire button, with the upper most "mode" circle highlighted (default), you make all friendlies within a pretty big radius appear on your (big) map as little teal circles. They don't move, so it only takes a snapshot of their location at that time. Not terribly useful, I know.
The next circle down I'm pretty sure is the enemy snapshot, although it might also be the jam ability (masks the presence of your side from the effects of a hostile Commander's "enemy snapshot"). Either way, the second and third down the column are the jam and enemy snapshot abilities. Last one is suppose to be the orbital strike, where you'd, in theory, have to use the command tool to "laze" a target, and then that target gets hit from some kind of orbital weapon. That ability isn't in yet though, and it may end up changing too. |
