The Despised Extra Point

There is nothing more annoying then planing your character in the cert calculator and discovering when you get everything you want you have a spare points.

Nothing is more annoyign then this wasted point, that made going from BR19 to BR20 pointless.

I think They should add certifications that only cost one point.
These would not be very useful choices. They really wouldn't make that much differnce, but they would allow you to use that wasted point.

Sugestions for 1 point cert:
Anti-Grav Boots (Boots that allow you to jump a bit higher to avoid enemy fire)
Blunt Meelee (Ability to use the butt of your rifle or the handle of your pistol to beat the enemy with)
Prone (Ability to lay down and shoot more accurately)

Do you guys have any other ideas?

If they added prone it should be 3-4 certs. That would just make snipers godlike. As for ideas for single cert equipment... hmm...

1. Range locator (allow you to equip a visor that puts a small range finder below your reticule)
2. Movement predictor (puts a light shadow in front of the enemy, showing where the enemy will be, if current speed/direction is maintained, once projectile reaches target)
3. Stabilizer (weapon reticule gets smaller faster while standing or crouching still)
4. Joint enhancer (allows you to jump higher and throw grenades farther)

And my favorite:

5. Det pack (allows you to commit suicide in a sphere of blood and fire)

Well... One of the things the Devs want to make sure of is that there is nothing that gives you a DIRECT 'unfair' advantage, i.e. one based on your level, not your skill. So things like increasing health, damage, or aiming ability are out.

So, stabilizer wouldn't go in for sure, maybe not the movement predictor or joint enhancer either.
Just sayin. =|

A few 1 point cert suggestions:
Meteological Training - Shows you what path a storm will take in the next 15 minutes, and gives you a 5 minute auto-warning for storms coming in. "A storm will overrun your current position in 5 minutes."

Bean counter - shows you the exact NTU levels in your bases instead of rounding to tens.

Extended breath holding cert - allows you to walk around underwater longer without dying.

1 point certs should be pretty fricken useless, IMO, and these fit the bill nicely...

I've thought about this a lot actually. And I was considerring posting something on the beta forums about adding small 1-point certs. I wrote some down somewhere but off the top of my head here are a couple I came up with.

1) Vehicle cammoflauge - Just like real life, a camo-tarp that you throw over your parked vehicle to make it blend in to the surrounding ground. This would be useful when you park your vehicle to go raid a base or tower; or when a galaxy pilot parks his galaxy...Right now galaxies are basically a 1-time use vehicle because they stand out so much that you cannot park one and go fight.

2) Flash-bangs - Grenades that flash and temporarily blind and disorient people. These would be great for indoor combat. Anyone that views the flash would go blind for 5 seconds and their vision would slowly return over the following 5 seconds. These should also cause just as much grief as regular grenades should you be careless with them.

3) Night-vision Goggles - I personally think that night time should become darker in game to give more strategy and realism. Then implement night-vision goggles. Just like Splinter Cell. Also I think that when a facilty's generator is destroyed or when it runs out of NTU's the inside of the facility should be VERY dark with only small emergency lights that run off batteries scatterred around the building. Night-vision goggles would be usefull here as well.

Hrmm maybe I will just go copy and paste this on beta forums now that I have it typed.

I too am annoyed by the one cert point left at the end of planning my character, but i agree with tieom that they should be near useless. I want the cert to get rid of the one thing i dont like about this game....the stupid swimming goggles that TR agiles wear. =)

IMHO -

1) Vehicle cammoflauge - Part of the game is having your vech hacked or gone, I dont think that this should be in game....
2) Flash-bangs - No way, have you ever played UT with those bloody poision arrows? That is just annoying, and in this game would give you a pure kill combo
3) Night-vision Goggles - This should be an implant

Meteological Training - Good 1 cert thing, it would be nice to know where everything was going....

Extended breath holding cert (AKA: light scuba gear?) - i like this one, would allow for more cool water stuff....

What about a 1 cert run booster so you could increse your running 10% or so but it would be like the max run when you use it (IE: takes a sec to use, no weapons, etc). Would help those stuck w/o a ride.

pyro I couldent agree with u more .
there should absolutely be one point certs.
I REALLLLLLLLLLLY think the devs should add theese 1 certs, like 5 1 cert thingies in a patch or somethin.
I really like tieoms suggestions-

meteological training- man I would really love theese things! Great to just pick it up and tell ur squad: its coming a heavy blizzard in 10 minutes!
god damn now a cat just entered my room! brb.

ok,

bean cert- its okay but it seem to be to expensive.

breath cert- wot would this be good 4?
ya this is 2 expensive also.

and tieom the devs dont want certs that increase damage, health or gives better aim? Then I really wonder why they ever added more than one weapon to the game!
If the devs dont want things that increase thoose things that I said then they dont want certs in this game.

Drex I also agree that nighttime should be much much more darker, it sucks at it is right now imo. And there should be a 2.30 hour cycle imo.

yes, it is almost hard to tell when it is night and it does not last long enoguh

I think that there should be night cycles going around the planet like a real planet, so there is night somewhere at all times, with likea 18 hour cycle or something.... just an idea

First: Those certs would cost ONE POINT. It does not get any cheaper than that without being free, or something stupid like 0.5 points. The breath-holding cert... well, if you've ever crashed into a lake or driven off a bridge you know that you can't go very far underwater before dying; it would also give you a better chance of survival in case of a water landing, you could jump off bridges to avoid tanks/troops, and you could get across small rivers on foot (Especially with the surge implant).

Second: Think of it like this - if two people with the same weapons, armor and implants fight then the one with the most skill should walk away the winner. Certs that provide increased health, armor, aim, damage, etc. (Direct, stat-based advantages) would make the one with the most stat-boosters win; which is what the Devs have repeatedly said they do not want. Seems like they are willing to bend the rules for implants, but they have limitations on use and number.

first: ok didnt knew there was many crashes into lakes, cool then u could really use it. I know theres not anything less than 1, but would it b a problem if it would be lesser than 1? I thought maybe get some more than only better breathing.

second: then the devs shouldent have added certs at all, couse when someone starts playing PS and meets someone who has played for a while but still the one started playing has better skill but only a gauss. The one who has played PS 4 a while have a mini-chaingun but has less skill.
Certs is stat-boosters, more or less.

lol that sucks, is the "night" 2 hours?
18 hours would be much better than it is now.
