I cant see the link mostly because i'm at work and they dont like gamespy. However i dont believe much the hype machine puts out, secondly I really doubt planetside will get downside at least it makes money, several lesser known games in their linup might hit the AX, worse case scenario we might see a rate hike.

This is referring to the company as a whole. And they will cut smaller projects first - PS is as about as small as Sony is currently.
And hype machine nothing, these are hard numbers that Sony itself has put out. I got it off of Gamespy just because I haven't seen it elsewhere. Yet. |

I read an article about Sonys downsize. Sounds like the cuts are comming mostly from manufacturing side (electronics sector not doing well for them). SOE is doing rather well (rather profitable part of the company).
I think the worst thing that will happen to SOE is that some old exec with tons of power who knows nothing about Online games will get transfered from their manufacturing side to SOE.... really screwing things up.

I would not worry too much, it sounds like Sony Pictures isnt that hugly affected, and SOE is a division of Sony Pictures. Don't forget that Sony has so many damn divisions I cant even name them all, and most are not affected by the others.
SCE (Playstation) is completly seperate from SOE |

Hamma brings up a good point any Japanacorp has enough shell games going to make a global econ majors head hurt, Sony America could very well not be figured into this (I know for a fact that SOE asia has had a lot of trouble breaking into some lucrativew asian markets they were kinda banking on, South Korea mostly, lot to be said for nationalism.

Don't worry, an asteroid will hit Earth before a game company shuts down a popular MMO game. As we play, we're helping to shape the course of these games.
Besides, when has PlanetSide let you guys down before? And I don't mean when it didn't run on your Pentium 2.
