Planetside, as of today, is in GAME's 2 for 30 section. (or 20 on it's own)
Core Combat is also out in GAME for 20. Ah, but you can't subscribe you say? To young to have a credit card? WELL NOW YOU CAN SUBSCRIBE! SONY have finaly relented and now not only allow SWITCH payment, but allow SOLO too! (SOLO is SWITCH for under 18s) A months subscription costs 7.50 Planetside costs 20, or 15 if you buy another game with it. Core Combat costs 20 You get a month free with the Planetside box That means for as little as 15 you can can get up and running! Spread the word amongst your gamming communites. SONY have finaly seen sense! Simply select global collect when editing yor subscription. I look forward to see you all fighting for the Vanu as soon as possible.

I'd expect an American to say that. Basicly it means Planetside has been opened up to the UK big style.
Switch Payments would have been good enough, but SONY have gone the extra mile and included SOLO. That means any 16 yr old kid can subsribe without having to beg his parents to let him use their credit card, he can use his own SOLO card. SONY don't sell GAME cards here, and you cant order them unless you have a credit card, but if you had a credit card you wouldn't need to order one. I'm 21, and I don't have a credit card. I don't want a credit card, and will never get a credit card unless a REALLY have to. SWITCH does it all. Most 16-26 year old are in the same position. In short, if enough people hear about it, more UK folk will play. The things that have turned away alot of people I know are: Massive download of demo, then a further update. Poor payment methods. Now the most important one has been fixed. [edit] now all SONY need to do is get a Planetside Trial onto PCZone or PC Gamer's coverdisk.

If you're serious about bashing the U.S., go right ahead. However, some people may not be as good-natured as myself.

I still don't understand what a switch card is. Basically a game card that you buy with a credit card, so you don't have to use your card to pay for PS, even though you need to pay for the switch card which is the same thing as using your credit card? Switch = reduntant way to pay?

A Switch card is a debit card as opposed to a credit card, meaning that you can only spend what money you have in your bank account.
It uses the credit card infrastructure and so provides most of the same benefits as a credit card while buying stuff - i.e. Visa garentee's secure transactions, and protects you against fraud on the net etc. Basically it's like carrying electronic cash. Since you're only spending the money you already have and are not borrowing anything from the credit card companies it means that under 18's can have a version of the card which is called SOLO. I use my switch card to pay for everything, only time I carry cash is if I'm going to the pub |
