I hear people talking about using voice comms in PS..
Some people want it integral to the game, but there are several 3rd party progs out there for this that work quite well IMO.. Roger wilco is often mentioned, but I haven't had much in the way of decent voicecomm out of that.. I've heard people talking about teamspeak, but I've got no idea how good that is.. No one seems to mention gamevoice (In the posts I've read), but I've had great success using that in many games.. Its decently clear, and pretty stable as far as I've used it.. When PS launches it'll be interesting to see if voicecomm picks up with it.. Which will you choose? And is teamspeak better than Gamevoice? thx |

Well, when I have to choose between either Teamspeak or Gamevoice, 2 things will go into my decision:
1. The clarity of either 2. Which one my squad and Planetside gamers use the most. As you've pointed out, Teamspeak is mentioned most often and I can attest to its quality. I have never had an opportunity to use Gamevoice, but I don't see how it could be much better than Teamspeak. Last edited by Civilian; 2003-02-03 at 04:58 PM. |

Teamspeak2 > gamevoice.
I have used both. Teamspeak is head and shoulders above gamevoice or rogerwilco.

I am torn between wanting to use voice or just typing, I read earlier that sound has a major effect on frame rate, so voice chatting might not be such a great idea on the other hand it is fun... you'd only hear ppl in some 50 meter radius or something like that right?

My squad in JumpGate has used RogerWilco, Teamsound, and TeamSpeak 1&2. We currently use TS2. I guess becuase it is the most compatible with everyone, and most reliable. I know with Teamsound, I couldn't use it because of the way my Cable was set up. Something about a "fake IPA".

I'm going to get TS2 soon, but I have some questions...
Does it have any sort of effect on the frame-rate? Can you switch who you are talking to in-game? I've heard folks talk about switching channels in-game. Is this real? Does the game have to support it, or is it entirely independent?
