Well... seeing as I am now a pilot for real... as In I am not flying illegaly... I thought I would create this thread to talk about our adventures. Also I was wondering if someone could help me with a small problem.
I have an aviation head set.... dual jacks... was wondering if it was possible to get an adapter to make them useable on my computer. |

However, kudos on taking the step into getting licensed - flying has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life, and I'm extraordinarily grateful that I get to persue it as a full-time career. Anyhow, I hope this headset of yours is from David Clark, because DC's are the best in the business. Watch movies involving airplanes and the pilots will almost always be wearing those trademark sage green headsets. I do believe it's possible to get an adapter for the ear piece jack, however I don't think you can get an adapter for your microphone. I've been warned that the audio quality when plugged into the computer sucks the fat one, dunno why, but I'm sure Martyr could explain it to you. Oh yeah, he's a pilot too. A leet one, he's got way more hours than me

huzzah, pilotage!
edit: drawback to adapting your dc's (or sig, or whatever - provided they arent bose) to your computer is that they were designed for radio use - they have very poor low- and high-frequency response (they sound crappy.) however! yes, it is indeed possible. i've seen an adapter, i don't think it was from sporty's, so it was probably avshop. will investigate.

Thanks Martyr... and Trig just to let you know I had training but because I was below 16 I couldnt get my medical. I am a perfectly safe pilot and Know how to fly... this is just offical.
P.S. Have either of you two seen those SR - 20s!? holy shit what a bueatiful airplane.... no offence to triggar but they are hotter than her. I saw one at my field wensday and fell inlove with it just by looking at it. Lots of digital stuff... side stick controls. Apparently its a bitch to get comfortable to land and everything but its none the less a beautiful aircraft. If I get an airplane its going to be that. Half a million dollars but if I have it it will be worth it. Last edited by Peacemaker; 2004-09-25 at 01:13 AM. |
