In-game Music

Is it possible to change the boring in-game music to something of your own?

Just turn it off and run winamp in the background I guess.

Probably will affect your performance though I think.

In your Planetside folder, there is a Music folder. The files all have their individual names like, dessert_travel ,temperate_travel , tr_soi_combat , stuff like that. Get some of your music, and rename it to the PS music file names. Start up the launchpad, and AFTER it does a COMPLETE scan of your files and it says PLAY, then you copy YOUR files named after the PS files into the PS music folder and boo ya!

Backup your music folder first. Do what lonehunter said. Havent tried it yet.

Easier to run winamp in the BG though.

you used to be able to just copy the music over into your music folder after renaming it but shortly after release it started scanning for it and now you have to do what Lonehunter says, although running winamp in the background works well too, the only problem I get with that tho is the music will stutter from time to time if you have 512[m] of mem.

You wouldn't even be able to run windows on 512k of memory

Oh hell yes

I actually designed a program that would swap out anything like
custom_tr_sanctuary.mp3

Main problem is that it's automated

New skin means the pixel colors change and I haven't been able to get onto the game to change the color coordinates.

Oh yeah the program also starts up Teamspeak and then bypasses the launchpad for you, then skips the ads

Also has a function with the scroll mouse
Scroll the mouse initally moves it a bit up and to the left
Click mouse then allows you to select your character

Essentially everything you need to start PlanetSide, done for you.

All that said

When I get some time I'll probably give it a spiffy installer
Then add Ventrillo and TSO support.

Swapping out the .mp3 files after the lanchpad scan does allow you to change the music. Did you know you can also swap out the .bik files and change the video that plays on the TV in the base lounge? Check out this link

Well the link I posted isn't a bik, it's nsv which plays with winamp.
If you don't have winamp there and do have IE, then this link should allow you to watch it in a web page player.
