Rock. Seem kinda unbalanced for all the work that went behind them. I felt the wrath of the EMP and once some dude on a mission just strolls through the sheilds and boofed us. I can only gun, 6 more alien bases before im alligned with the technology. There is no spoon.

Personally I think they're pretty close to balanced. They do a number on vehicals, but infantry who know what they're doing can take it out (BFR>vehical>Infantry>BFR). The trick is to keep some range from infantry exits, or just constantly be on the lookout while your gunner takes care of things. Here's a crappy drawing, cause I had nothing better to do.
Base->___| _ |<---Far away-->|__X__ <--You _____|____||____|___________/______\ My only wish is that they'd speed up the gunner varient by about 5kph, other than that I don't have much to comment on for now. Last edited by 2Seksy4MyModem; 2004-12-29 at 08:22 AM. |

Even still, though, the idea shouldn't be so foreign. In WW2 tanks could be fairly easily disabled or destroyed by infantry armed with the right explosives (magnetic mines were widely used against German Panzer units, and prompted OKH to use the anti-magnetic mine paste called zimmerit to combat this tactic), or at close range and using a bazooka or similar weapon. I'm no expert on modern military vehicles, but I suspect a suitably armed infantryman could do some serious damage to even an Abrams tank if he were at close range (to either use hand-held explosive devices or RPG weaponry with great accuracy). And all else aside, realism has nothing to do with it. The objective here is to make a fun game, not a game which abides by what "should" and "shouldn't" happen. Has anyone played this game? They have walkers kinda like the mechs except they cant fly and its only one guys that drives it.. OK OK before someone says somehting this is RTS. But the design rocks rocks. If any ground troops get close enough it destroys them. Its armed with a flamethrower and has claws which it uses to pick up troops and squeeze the shit out of them. Decimates them. I dont think ground troops should have a chance in hell against most vehicles unless they are "sniping" with heavy ordance. Its just asking for loads of people to run around like T1000.
But I think the balance is pretty straight, just annoyed about the emp and ground troops giving a BFR (HEAVY TANK problems. Oh and in WWII troops didnt go head on against tanks. Looks great in movies but when its life and death and you see a 100 ton tank rolling down a street with 100s of troops tailing it, you dont wait to 'jump' it with sticky bombs and gernades. Im sure it happened but not much, and the casulties where probally rich. And the armor is really really thick. there is a chance you could shoot it with a rocket or pack bomb and not damage anything vital, just piss off the guys driving it. |

Yes I have played dawn of war, dreadnaughts are very different from bfrs because:
1. They do not have constantly recharging shields 2. cannot effectivly run away from whatever trouble they get their sorry asses in 3. they do not fly 200m into the air The last batch of BFR nerfs did bring them into line, they were ment to die to infantry. Try explaining how annoying it is to get emp'd and jammered to the 4-5 aircraft you instagib out of the sky or the infantry you snipe from 150m with invisible lasers. |

Three decis is crazy though, seriously no other heavy vehicle is that weak. The should atleast make it four or five.
On another note, Abrams tanks have a new armor that was developed in conjuction with the british thats formula is a state secret. It can withstand armor piercing tank shells from nearly point blank. Anti tank weapons are basically useless against them, and since this new armor covers most of the treads, the only weak points are directly under the treads and about 6 inches above the ground. The new firing system makes attacking multiple targets a breeze, dam it is a beautiful machine. |

I hate how weak the BFR's now. But I can deal with that. But what I really hate is how agiles can outrun the gunner variants. That is just flat out stupid. I don't mind that when jammered, but in transit mode? Honestly, give the gunner variants 5-10 Kph, so they can atleast outrun infantry. They are virtually useless now and I refuse to use them. I only pilot eagles now because the peregrine is disgustingly slow. You can't do jack crap in it.

Actually it's just because the Decimator does 200% damage compared to regular vehicles, and its's got more armor than a Deliverer.
And essentially the same shielding power of a MagRider. But good ****ing luck getting that done with all the crap EMP code, and 25% shorter EMP time. Can't even fire off 4 shots in that time, much less get in range of it before it frags your infantry with dual AA.

I think they're just fine now. They're almost in balance with the rest of the game. It's a case of shoot first or die. Say you have a JH, holstered. But a TR guy comes along with his big MCG. Even if you can get your JH out, you'll still get owned, because he had the first shot(s). Same thing goes with deci's under the shield. If the Infantry guy is quick enough and has a few jammers, a set of decis, and a ton of guts, then he'll win the fight. It's pretty much the ONLY way infantry can kill BFRs anyway. First you complain because you're getting owned by them. And now you complain about how weak the BFRs are now that you're sitting in one? JEEZ!!!! -iluvthequasar |
