ESPN Presents the "US Paintball Championships" Sanctioned by the NPPL
ESPN has launched the air dates for the first series of the "US Paintball Championships" sanctioned by the NPPL. The original airings are Monday nights at 10:00 pm EST/ 7:00 pm PST starting Monday April 10 and continuing every Monday through May 29 on ESPN2. ESPN is currently editing the show's footage, which was filmed during last month's 2005 NPPL Super 7 World Series Commander's Cup in Miami. There are 8 different shows, each one hour in length. Show 1: April 10 Show 2: April 17 Show 3: April 24 Show 4: May 1 Show 5: May 8 Show 6: May 15 Show 7: May 22 Show 8: May 29 Second show is tonight. the first show recorded a .44 rating, which basically means that around 440,000 people tuned in to watch it. That is the highest ranking paintball has ever had a tv. Hopefully it will grow. I would love to see a rating of 1. It airs speedball, not woodsball. So, if you like speedball, definately tune in and watch it. They did a great job with it. |

A recap from the first episode (real quick):
the 8 pro teams playing in the quarter finals are: San Diego Dynasty Sacramento XSV Portland Naughty Dogs New England Hurricanes London Tigers Orange County Bushwackers Chicago Evil Stockholm Joy Division First Matches Were: (winners in bold) San Diego Dynasty vs. Orange County Bushwackers Stockholm Joy Division vs. Sacamento XSV New England Hurricanes vs. London Tigers Portland Naughty Dogs vs. Chicago Evil SECOND EPISODE: San Diego Dynasty took on London Tigers and absolutely dominated them! But that was a given because Dynasty (at the time this event took place) was the #1 team in the world. Sacramento XSV took on Chicago Evil. XSV was ranked #2 in the world. No one saw the upset coming. The games ended up going into Sudden Death. A sudden death is a 1v1. Time limit is 3 minutes. If there is no one shot out after three minutes, then another two people are chosen. Well this sudden death lasted all of 6-7 seconds, with the Chicago Evil player blasting Jon Richardson, from XSV, right in the face. Portland Naughty Dogs took on New England Hurricanes. Naughty Dogs were heavily favored to win. Yet another major upset was on hand. New England Hurricanes, a mid ranked team, out of the 18 pro's teams in NPPL, dominated 3rd ranked Naughty Dogs, and prevailing with the win. As far as the other two teams go, I'm not sure who won. TUNE INTO THE 3RD EPISODE NEXT WEEK ON THE 24TH!!!! Last edited by Kyonye; 2006-04-18 at 04:44 PM. |

Dynasty was rocking last year. Too bad Ollie Lang dropped them like a whore with STDs to play for LA Iron Men now, hey gotta go where the money is. But hell, now Dynasty can show everyone that Ollie wasn't carrying them on his back.
I'm more interested in seeing how the Oakland Assassins and Infamous team merger works out. With all the great players on Infamous and Bob Long's Coaching from the Assassins, it's going to be a hell of a team(s).

in 2005, assassin's did better then infamous. They have great talent. What sucks is that infamous got picked apart, losing both Chris Lasoya, and Rusty Glaze. Even worse was that Avalanche got completely picked apart. XSV has been taking all the best players from all the teams. Avalanche lost one of the best fronts in paintball, to XSV. Takemoto for the win! And then Avalanche turned around and took a lot from Doc's Raiders dynasty will not do as well as you would hope them to do. After the first two events, and two horrible showings by Dynasty, it may seem to be that ollie lang was a lot of that team. I hope that I am wrong, though. My favorite team is Portland Naughty dogs. They are one of the most honest teams, but always fail when it comes to winning ... Rocky Knuth is one of my favorite players. He is incredible at the sport. I know not many people know of this team, but Tippmann Effect (PSP team) are all from western NY. Based out of NVP paintball in Rochester. electrofreak may know of this place. They are an incredible team. Buddy Baur is coaching them. in 2005, they took 3rd overall in Division III Xball. The core players for Tippmann effect just so happen to be Team Rhythm, who Buddy Baur coached before they became Tippmann Effect (PSP). |

Wow... you guys know about www.pbnation.com? You seem enthusiastic enough about paintball. Go there and take a look around... I think you'll like it.
As for me, I don't really follow tourney ball much anymore. I've gone back to woodsball, where I originally started. There's no way in hell I'm ever selling my trix though. |
